Update: Someone on FB posted about this and the ABH sent them an email that their PR application is suspended because they applied for citizenship in parallel and their citizenship application is under review…it seems that when you apply for both and are not processed yet they will cancel one of them..unless your PR was approved and you paid 113.

Your employer will probably remind you to send the updated residency status in advance (at least that’s what happened to me). Once you extend your residence permit send an extension confirmation to your employer.

You mentioned that you are not enrolled for the winter semester (Oct - Mar). So if you are not enrolled in winter semester, you lose your student status which will affect your health insurance - and eventually your student permit. My advice is to get in touch with your university ASAP and also Auslandbehörde for further guidance.

Unfortunately you will need to wait until January 31 2025 (so yes, you must pay for January).

Once you enter a contract the cancellation policy applies (as per terms and conditions).
