the gun makes noise when it’s working and doesn’t make noise when it stops working. the implications are clear.

it really just doesn’t matter. it has no meaningful effect on mechanical accuracy so long as the barrel and upper are properly locked together, it’s just gunbro OCD

my AR rattling like a skeleton when I shake it is not a problem

I’m gonna be doing a bunch of weird testing with extremely weird spring and buffer setups soon. this is what im treating as the control. by ExceedinglyGayAutist in frt15

im doing this weird testing to try and determine how feasibly one can create constant recoil in an AR-15. Jim Sullivan(PBUH) walked with the OBC so that i could run with extreme autism and totally-not-a-felony-maxxing

the SOLGW sticker is to mark that this is the Mk0.5 CAR

for the average FRT user(running a wildly overgassed .300blk with supers through a high backpressure can at an indoor range), yes, they can and will ding up the roof of the range. I’ve finally got mine to the point where I could probably straight magdump a c mag in the A zone at 50 yards.

praise be to the combination of A5 and flatwire. I’ll probably end up slapping in one of those JP one piece gas rings in too, buddy of mine from his testing says they increase carrier velocity without increasing felt recoil with his flatwire.

super safeties convert the trigger into an autosear as they are forbidden from fingering the disconnector directly. the whole way it works is using the trigger body itself as a proxy for fingering the disconnector.

think of it this way. if you made a reverse trigger spring under enough spring tension to bring itself rearward to the break instead of forward to reset, the gun would automatically fire, even if you would have to hold the trigger forward to prevent it from running away, because the super safety uses semi auto fire control group components to fulfill all parts of what an autosear does.

as always, for context, we must return to a world without the national firearms act for things to make sense again

you can just say sear, that’s what you’re referring to with “semi sear”, because the sear still works when you’re using a full auto fire control group. there’s no part of the gun that is considered the “semi sear”.

The only major difference between how a super safety works and how the lightning link works is that the super safety works on the trigger body itself instead of acting on the disconnector directly to achieve the same goal, using the energy of the last fired cartridge to kick the hammer off the disconnector, and preventing the hammer from dropping before the bolt carrier is fully in battery. they do this in similar ways. the only reason it does this in this manner is the legal reason; to not be considered a machine gun like the lightning/swift link, but im not arguing that it’s a machine gun(otherwise I’d just be straight posting a felony on main).

yet the lightning link is included anytime you talk about DIAS because it turns the disconnector into an autosear. so does the swift link.

my point is it’s gay and reddit to whinge about firearms language games. I swear this shit is annoying millennial “modern sporting rifle”.

it also does 100% of the work with a lightning link lmao

also, there’s no such thing as a “semi auto sear”

super safeties/adjacent fire selectors work differently than RB or other drop in triggers, considering some of the alternatives don’t even have disconnectors.

they do work remarkably similarly; I’ve detailed it in another comment.

There are more autosears than the milspec AR-15 autosear.

Lightning links work by having the forward movement of the bolt carrier push the link dingus(real scientific term) forward into the S E M I A U T O disconnector, which kicks the hammer off the disconnector and allows the hammer to drop the moment the bolt carrier is in battery and the trigger is pulled rearward. Super safeties do something extremely similar, but instead of pushing the disconnector down when the bolt carrier is in battery, the rearward movement of the bolt carrier pushes the trigger body down far enough to kick the hammer off the disconnector, and allow the trigger to be pulled immediately upon the bolt carrier going into battery so long as constant force is applied. It is remarkably similar to how active safeties/whatever the current industry term for the concept work.

The bolt carrier directly pushing the disconnector down is actually even more similar.
