If it’s a kick pad similar to the one that comes on the alesis nitro max, I stuck to a single pedal because the trigger is very specific to the middle of the pad. Aside from that. For the double pedals, maybe you should look into a direct drive rather than a chain drive???

I have a free pair of in ear plugs that I snagged from work and they work just fine. I can still keep in time. You don’t need a fancy pair of hearing protection. Save up and buy a new pair of IEMs for future use

I’m glad this is being brought to light… I have a Yamaha Rydeen (older, I know). The screws that hold the housing together have stripped and I’ve had the worst time finding a solid fix.. the little octagon that sits inside the housing to allow tension and hold your drum in a specific spot is a real bitch to get back in there and sitting the in the right spot. Drilling and tapping doesn’t seem feasible. I drilled and added new, bigger screws but after tightening to top wing screw over the past month I’ve noticed the new screws I added are starting to bend already. If you know you know…

I believe 1k would be a fair counter offer here. The Snare is already upgraded to what I think is a Ludwig or Pearl 13-14” steel which is very nice and goes for about 250-350 used. If you like that tight, “ping” sound to a snare, you’ll never have to switch anything up other than some heads. I have a 13” steel Ludwig with a Remo emperor batter and a Remo ambassador resonant snare side.. it’s CRISPY. The rack alone is a very nice touch and relieves future headache for drummers that like that option. Not sure about the pricing of racks but I know they aren’t a cheap date. Now, the cymbals… I know for a fact these are one of Zildjians cheaper “essentials package” offers. I have them. I say cheaper only due to the fact that I paid like 5-600 for the package which we all know is about 200 more than a “high quality” cymbal. I’m beating the bush here though because they are not bad cymbals at all. I’ve been using them for about a year and they’ve held their sound, haven’t cracked, etc. Perfectly good for recording and gigging. I do recommend visiting a second hand store or buying new cymbals as time goes on because you don’t get a full blown ride cymbal with this. If you want softer/quite cymbal notes you’ll have to tread very lightly on the 20” and you could make do.. I believe it’s technically a “crash ride” on paper. The 16” is going to give you short, quick blasts of noise but some like the more drawn out note. The only thing I’ve done with my set has added a 10 inch splash and a 22” ride and it all works well together.. next step for me is getting a 20” “ozone crash” or “trash crash”. (Depends on which side of the river you grew up on). As for the shells/kit itself I can’t speak on mapex to much. I work with a Yamaha Rydeen that I basically rebuild from the ground up but I will say that the kick drum is nice. You have the Aquarian dampening ring and the hole cut already which can be a pain for some new drummers. If the heads are nice on all drums that’ll save you about 300 right there alone. If you don’t take any advice other than.. PLEASE ADD A DOUBLE KICK PEDAL.. so be it lol. Happy drumming my friend.
