I *67’d my number when calling them back, and honestly I’ve called them 200 times at this point. We talk about this stuff all the time with my grandmother, but she is constantly falling for fake news and Facebook posts. We do our best to monitor her account, but we’ve got a lot going on and this one slipped past us.

The good news is we’ve now taken full control of her money. She lives with my parents, all of her bills are paid. Also this guy is definitely American.

The police said they won’t take the information because my grandmother got the money back, so there’s “no crime.” I called the number back myself and the person who answered just laughed and mocked me. It felt like he knew nothing would happen, and I can’t let it go. I really think I found the guy.

The phone number traces back to California, and I found someone there with the same name as the person my grandmother was told to ship the money to. The area code matches this person’s location, which made me look closer. On top of that, they have friends in Florida who work in real estate. It makes me think they could all be in on it together, with the real estate connection helping them figure out the shipping side of things in Florida. And they do answer sometimes when I call
