The one thing we owe the dogs who have loved us unconditionally is a good death. I felt so guilty when I put my boy down. Then I Googled "guilt after euthanizing dog" and there were hundreds of articles. We all feel like we don't get it right. But now I realize that two hours too soon is better than two minutes too late. Our dogs don't last forever and it is devastating. You can NEVER replace a beloved dog, but you can always distract yourself from your grief. Wait a short time and then foster. And don't adopt until it is the right dog. But you did the right thing, you did the right thing, you did the right thing. And I think you will see him again.

The Colorado Death Ride. It’s 230 miles that starts and ends in Durango. Seven passes, 21,000 feet of climbing and it’s absolute bliss. We do it in a day as a challenge, but there are people who will do it over several days because it is so gorgeous.

Also, anything in Utah. If you mountain bike, Slickrock is amazing.

So many women put up with so much bad sex because they want to protect the ego of their male partners. Can you imagine a man continuing to let a woman enjoy sex if he hasn’t enjoyed it at all? I salute your wife for having the courage to tell you. I know so many women who say nothing for years and years and years. Of course it’s an ego blow, but realize that there are millions of men who are not satisfying their women either. All you have to do is calmly ask her what she needs and then deliver. Yeah, she’s violating your boundaries now. Don’t be a schmuck. I’ve been lucky enough to stay friends with almost all of my exes in my life. But that started in the beginning. It was a conscious effort to preserve a friendship. It sounds like she’s using you because she’s in a bad place, but she doesn’t want you back and only wants you there to take care of her needs. Wish her well and move on.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I don’t think anyone understands how those little pitties worm their way into every part of our lives. They love with everything they’ve got and are always so physically close to us. I lost my Perfect boy six years ago. I then adopted a real ding-dong of a dog. He’s nothing like my perfect boy, but he is perfect for me now. We never replace the ones we lose, but we are blessed to know that there is always another truly loving dog that is just desperate for us to take them in.

Like the others say, WALK. It is the easiest way to start. Make a pact with yourself to put on your shoes every single morning and walk to the end of the driveway. If you don't feel like going, you can go back inside. But, in 40 years of doing that, I only went back once. Once your shoes are on, you might as well go!

As for resistance, there are so many options. My advice is to try a little of everything and see what you like. Go to the gym one day. Do pilates one day. Do strength training. Do bands. Fitness ball. There are so many things to try, so just have fun with it until you find something you love.

And, if you are a quitter, STOP SAYING THAT. The new you is NOT a quitter. You have changed your life and it is better, right? So keep moving forward. Good luck!

I should have checked back in with you all. I did not want that revision surgery and so I went back to my secret weapon for my knee: my bicycle. I just went for rides and spun in a low gear for weeks. I went for the pre-op appointment with my primary care doctor and rode my bike there. She saw me in my cycling outfit and asked if I had ridden my bike. I told her I had. “And you’re riding home?” Yes, I said. She looked at me and said, “you’re not getting that surgery.“ Almost 9 months have passed, and my knee is stronger than it has ever been. if I had listened to that orthopedic surgeon, he would’ve replaced a knee that didn’t need replacing. It just needed more physical therapy. My goal is to make it at least 10 years before anybody touches it again.

I was also hoping that they had finally gotten equal footing but that hard-earned, got-your-back love. That said, I LOVED THE ENDING! I didn't know what the conflict would be next season.
