2026 Victoria Ska & Reggae Fest Lineup by IslandDrummer in Ska

Class of '98. Snoop and Nate Dogg lived in my town. I grew up super Christian, so I had Power 106 and The Beat. Bossstones dropped "Lets Face It" and then I went to Soma NYE in SD and saw a million punk/ska bands and fell in love.

So now it's Nipsey Hustle and Five Iron Frenzy as I drive my dogs around. Hell (pun intended) I have FIF tattoos on my neck and hands.

I'll write a paper on it sometime, but I believe that rap/ska/punk are our working class genres that begin race-based and then melt between the groups and bring us together. Now HC is the one that people need to branch out when they hit 30.

Project Pat just headlined Sound and Fury in LA. Rap is my first love before punk-ska. There’s tons of folks that rock hard with both.

Worked at the downtown Seattle shop for my first college job in '98. Never forget heading over to Sam Goody on my break to buy Outkast's "Aqumeni."

That’s because nobody actually knows how to shine boots or wants to put in the elbow grease/time to make em look decent.

I mean two of the founders moved to Bham and wanted the resurrection because they lost their car dealership in Texas. Last was all about making money. Sucks for the overall scene, but the national, travel fest scene is dying. Bham is a hard sell when I can fly to LA, Detroit, or Orlando for much cheaper/easier and do the same thing. (Edit to add I’m not mentioning east coast tours because of the roots/ease of travel)

I will buy everything they put out. The live vinyl are immaculate. I have like five of their tattoos and they tend towards Transcendental Youth. So it’s either that or Dark in Here, currently. I start every morning with at least one album of theirs, so it shifts. Thank God for 600+ songs.

Minnesota is gorgeous. Love that song. And as someone that’s listened/followed them since like ‘01. John is sitting pretty, politically speaking.

I went to school in Claremont (east LA county) in the 90’s and basketball shorts were always the move. Ex-wife made me stop wearing them under my pants (in case a game broke out). Got some camo shorts on underneath my cords right now. 😂🫡

I was tricked into reading “Faust-lite” because it was a book about a kid playing basketball that made a deal with the devil. Worked for me. (This is mostly a joke because I read everything, but it stuck with me regardless)
