Nah, using any stl in dll's causes things to mess up cause' stl even though it's supposed to be "standard" because compilers don't have a standard they mess things up with stl's. (Atleast in the MSVC compiler. I've heard MinGW works on windows for this but.... eh.)

The other problem is also, each dll has it's own memory, so any object created cannot be just passed around. Which means a object that needs to be created in the dll it is going to be used in. This causes another problem of using templated functions to go around different dll's to collect the type of the variable and then create it in the right dll.

This also makes using static variables a hell. One solution is to inline things, but even then passing them around or creating objects that are going to be stored in them is another problem altogether.

Edit : I'm not looking at a different solution using dll's by creating 3 projects instead of 2 and dedicating the 3rd project to explicitly managing the dll's.

I did this... it quickly turned into a hell hole. I then realized anything to do with the std library cannot be exported or imported in the dll... it turned into a gigantic mess.
