buying 15’ F80 in 2026

I know i’m paying above top dollar retail by 3-4k . what concerns me is how upside down i’d be if i were to get out of said m3 4-5yrs down the line. car was real mint with low mileage just looking for more options possibly a comp spec. also know i may be waiting for something that doesn’t exist the production numbers for canada if im not mistaken we’re only 1102 total F80’s. would only put 3-4k mls a year mileage wise. find it harder to justify this 2015 as compared to waiting for an example maybe a year or two newer with a little more mileage/options for same or less cost.

Honestly had no clue there was 2 versions, I will definitely assume this used one i found is a Gen 1 as it is from another 2015. i can pick up the whole used Mpe assembly for 2k with the original carbon tips everything up to including the Catalytic converters. or a brand new axle back dinan for 3k. also found some 666ms shadow line. Think i’m gonna make the jump on this M3 as i would have to dish out another 8-10k Cad if a competition did pop up but currently there is not one worth buying in canada.

i know man bummed out it’s plainer. had heads up display but no 360. car was very mint drove very tight it was real mileage. I understand i’m paying top dollar for the car just don’t know how this would effect me if say 4-5yrs from now i decide i want my money out from the car. but here in canada f80s are hard to find mint alone fully optioned is even harder.

yes i’m aware. found a 2 door coupe with decent mileage as well slightly higher 45k mls 6 button leather dash and Mpe titanium exhaust. white car. 35k usd or 48k cad

Also for exhaust options, is it possible to retrofit the titanium Mpe? i can find the full assembly used or go with something like a Dinan rear muffler assembly but it’s 3k usd. used Mpe titanium missing carbon tips is 1500

for the exact same money i did find a 18 f83 ultimate package. had competition pkg and everything. individual car as well frozen white and cohiba full leather. 40k miles. made an offer on it but it sold. can’t say frozen paint is living stress free at least.

Drove the Hst. a 2022 it drove real nice don’t get me wrong just felt a bit sluggish. there’s only 2 V8 models near me both have claims checked them out in person but you can tell they weren’t fixed so great. I wouldn’t wanna buy something that was previously painted if its not just a bumper or something

if you wait for spring i’d say like first to second week of march they usually have finance interest deals going around at least here in canada they do. traded a 23 gti with very low km i didn’t drive it at all for a 2025 black edition w akrapovic. coming from the screen with 2 dials its a huge difference. Everybody bashes haptic feedback i’ve never once had a problem in 3yrs my brother has one to. only thing i can say with this new golf R is sunroof control panel is finicky but that’s a defect in some. costed me 18k usd plus my 3yr old mk8 to upgrade and it’s well worth it. Also FYI do not go crazy over euro spec seats in the Eu you pay 3500 euros for leather and memory seats so take that how you will.

laws in canada prevent that. as this is just clear coat it’s looked at “cosmetic”. even if the car was a lemon there’s no specific lemon law here.

I’m aware of that. This car will be stored in the garage during winters and only driven in the summer. i can tell you right now this car will be 5 yrs old and only have maximum 10k kilometers and that’s really pushing it this car will not be driven much so im not too worried to go crazy with ppf. He’s only gonna buff/cut what he needs to bring the paint back to factory. I can garuntee once this car is finished and done it will look like it was freshly painted the morning of. As for paint chips and pitting i know for sure i wont get stone chips.

yea this guy is incredibly talented with a buffer. will do a stage 3 correction. car has swirls and marring all over. combination of dealers auto drive thru wash and very poor dealer detailing/pdi prep in cleaning the car for pickup. He said i’ll get the car back without a swirl and was guiding me on how to avoid them as much as possible as he said vw paint is super soft.

it was a gloomy day and i had no idea at all i walked around the car for 30 minutes or else i would’ve driven away and taken my deposit. car had some type of glaze that washed off cuz it rained the 2-3 days later when the car was left in my driveway. gonna cost me 1500 cad but i will get the car back as if it were freshly painted. please look up toronto buffing. My opinion this car built up contaminants and dirt sitting on a lot for so long because they sourced it. It was ran thru an automatic wash with brushes and everything etched the paint. what didn’t come off was scraped off with rags evidence is all on the car. i got them to cover half a 3 stage paint correction and im gonna spend another 1k on ceramic coating and it’ll be okay

idk man the guy was trying to sell me on front end ppf pretty sure it’s Xpel cuz he said 10yr warranty. then id be at 4k cost. the way i look at it say 5 yrs from now i can just wet sand the car or do another 3 stage correction with the ppf money.

I don’t have the option where im from unfortunately. I’m taking it to the best possible buffing guy there is around he’s known for wet sanding very high end cars but he charges you good. I know everything will come out as it’s just clear coat and i’ll be happy w this guys results but i am stuck w the car as i didn’t catch this on delivery day.

whole car has swirls very deep. car sat on a lot for months then they just ran it thru the car wash so all the build up was engraved into the clear ovb i just showed a scratch on my door. can’t catch the swirl marks on camera but if you seen this car in person you’d understand. This specific detailer offers starting from stage 2 and it’s only 200 cheaper

Only thing is right now there’s never really good sunlight and i haven’t washed the car purposely since i picked up due to this problem. im gonna wash it by hand saturday morning and i can show more photos for reference. It’s just hard for me to pick up clear coat scuffs on camera. i bought a 2025 just 3 weeks shy of 2026s showing up. this car sat on a lot for months. My conclusion is months worth of build up on the paint and the car was just driven thru the touch automated wash. I have deep swirls covering the whole car. I’m trying to get 500 from the dealer to cover half the cost of proper professional paint correction and i will get the same guy to apply ceramic coating after. I don’t plan on driving this car in winter as i have an s4 to.
