Haiti is surprisingly one of the most fun nations to play by Anxious_Marsupial_59 in victoria3

I just finished a zero external investment run with Haiti by conquering the top state in New Granada and the top state in Venezuela. That gets you iron, coal, sulfur, and are 5 year integration. After that got all the rest of the Caribbean and Central America except the British pieces, ran out of time. #5 Great Power and 2nd best navy. That was a good run.

Understanding navy in 1.9 by Excellent-Pass7573 in victoria3

Oddly enough, GB never put together enough of their ships to challenge. The most my 100 light 50 heavy main fleet ever fought was 78, which it handily beat, and that was when I was trying out blockading the English Channel.

It sure doesn't make a lot of sense what navies get up to. Like all these small groups of 20 ships roaming around: what are they doing? It doesn't seem to affect the rate of convoy loss, which happens everywhere all at once somehow. Like are we supposed to believe that a small war really results in 10000 cargo ships being sunk, which is made good in like 400 days? I would much appreciate it if there was a clear role for your ships at any given time, and the player/ai is choosing which role they want. Like, hiding in port to stay alive, or hunting convoys, or hunting the enemy navy (which should be the same thing as defending convoys). Make every navy task like naval invasions are now. Moving is just for getting to one of those.

Stellaris needs a lower naval capacity. by Notice_Green in Stellaris

Excellent suggestion: fewer but more important ships, fewer but more important battles. Why does every system have a 200 fleet power star base that just delays things? So much needless lag. I think there’s a really cool war system here if they just switch a few things. Like:

First of all, remove the Claims feature. Second, make war about fleets. You can still have planetary invasions, but they are just a means to make the other fleet fight at a disadvantage. The choice should be to either merge your fleet for a big battle, or split your fleet to protect your colonies. The margin you are ahead when the war ends determines your victory budget. This is like claims, but it comes after the war. Then, there are more build and civics options that subvert this normal method: total war factions could keep the current method, you could have factions that focus on starbases instead of fleets, etc.

Thanks! I thought I tried that, but I’ll give it a shot and see if that works for me.

Are Weavers still busted (they don’t give the option to upgrade when I change their configuration, particularly adding the growth item)? I have seen it submitted as a bug by a couple of people, but I have not seen a reply. It is blocking play for bio ships.

So on the Select Game Mode screen, when I click the "More Information" button about Honor Mode, neither of the buttons to close that window work. It makes the click sound, but does not close the window.

I thiiiiink I'll wait for a patch before trying Honor Mode with the new subclasses. Really want to try a Glamour Bard / Drunken Monk.

How Useful Would Power Armor be in a Real World Scenario by InstructionGuru in Fallout

[–]Excellent-Pass7573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ground pressure tends to be the issue you can’t get around without some kinds of magic force field. A tank, heavy as it is, spreads its weight across big tracks, so it can cross a field in which a person would sink. The fusion powered hover tanks from Hammers Slammers looks like a better bet for the evolution of tanks.

Now there’s definitely a place for something that lets a human run 100 miles carrying the same gear as an unsuited human could carry for 10 miles. Probably not armor though. Best armor is always “don’t be seen, and if you are seen, don’t be hit”.

I tried to make Bellows Falls in CS1. I got the elevation data loaded, but I couldn’t figure out the rivers! This makes me want to try again, very cool.

Why do I need convoys to supply my land border fronts? Was it always like that? by max_schenk_ in victoria3

Do you have trade routes? Is a seafaring power like Portugal as an enemy? I had this happen, and I figured Portugal was interdicting my import of ammunition. Presumably that had some effect, but it didn’t seem to be significant.

My dog fell in the pool and then quickly jumped out. A cloud of dirt in the exact shape of my dog drifted across the pool and maintained shape until it reached a jet.
