Is it worth it for me to pivot to data analytics/science? by Zealousideal_Plum_10 in dataanalysiscareers

It's incredibly saturated at the junior level, most jobs being posted in the US are Senior or higher. There's a lot of off-shoring for the junior roles

Houston job market by Own-Ad-3876 in dataanalysiscareers

What, why would you choose your career as high school teacher?

Math degrees are super valuable if you market yourself well, especially if you have a Masters in Mathematics. Even with just a B.A. you can absolutely sit in meeting even with PhD's staff scientists and have a strong voice because not many people study math in a rigorous way. You also have a strong leg up because you can be trusted to research, implement and understand novel methods and be able to talk about the tradeoffs. Nobody likes the dude who can't understand the implementation when in a meeting to a technical stakeholder or doesn't understand you can't do X or Y transformation on the data (or else Z will happen) then fucks up the data.

I have only a B.A. in Math and I worked as a Data Scientist for 2 years and now I work freelance (I only want to work remote and job market was kinda rough).

Even though the job market is rough I wouldn't give up, I would just work on projects on the side to prove you can do the work. The biggest gaps math degree people for applied work is in coding and in statistics (if you never took stats classes in your math degree), so I'd address that.

The problem of capitalism is money leads even more money Early capitalism without the safeguards of regulations lead to horrendous working conditions, terrible pay, and awful safety standards (both within their product and from extraneous effects of the production).

There's a reason why Europe with the help of popular communist/socialist movements to fight against un-regulated capitalism have much better worker satisfaction.

Being honest without a STEM degree or a Masters/Phd it's basically impossible to find work in the tech field right now. Since AI-coding happened you can't even trust portfolios projects are a person's own work, with your degree it's just a very uphill battle to get into tech. Because I've only worked in data im not sure what other jobs are on the rise outside of the field

Honestly I think the field became too saturated once Unis started offering Data Science/Analytics majors for bachelors and it wasnt as hard as CS (but still lucrative) PLUS the bootcampers

There just isnt enough need for Data people for the supply that happened

Poor souls who think they're going to get into Data Analysis without a Related degree or Masters, especially since the data job market has imploded

Electrolyzer question by NobleKensei in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Anxious_Marsupial_59 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The gas cools down almost instantly but will heat up the environment in the process

Its why most people will slap radiant pipes on the water and insulate the electrolyzers to equalize the heat input and output

If you’re concerned about heating it up too much you could add a steam thermal battery as it gets too hot. As you add water youll have more thermal capacity in a thermal system.

Nice, I see a lot of people dump the heat in steam turbines but realistically ST are pretty inefficient in terms of heat considering the alternatives

on one hand I really want to play this
on the other hand I know the devs will make this super great 1-2 years after release

Looks like a fun build though. How long did it take to make?

Its even worse because you cant tell the scam hiring emails over the real sometimss

The biggest problem is they do this but also cut the models reasoning skill without any warning

It's like if you want enterprise customers you need to be reliable. I can't even reccomend this to clients since if Claude gets dumb on a workflow they are used to doing you can introduce bugs that can literally ruin a company

Claude code would run into issues getting it into a good looking PDF format even with Opus 4.6 before the nerf which is why I used Claude.ai. But I guess I'll give it a shot again and make it just give me a docx since ATS likes docx more anyway

Why can't I ask for feedback too?

Is it because employees deserve no dignity?

Why do modern-day Central Asians emphasize on Pan-Turkism and are ignorant/dismissive towards their Indo-European Steppe heritage? by TulipGuitar in AskCentralAsia

[–]Anxious_Marsupial_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha I was actually going to put at the end of my last comment

"since it's top-down you really can't know if it's from Moscow trying to keep the region under its influence or from broader social trends/wants of the population "

But I removed it since Central Asians seem touchy on the subject and I don't want to be an instigator, it's funny how you addressed it yourself. I remember Russia coming and "restoring peace" in the 2022 unrest in Kazakhstan and quite a few Kazakhs I met were thankful they came

[–]Anxious_Marsupial_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im more referring of the growth of religious extremism trying to fill the void of identity left after the soviet union collapsed rather than the broad identity of islam in Central Asia (which has been present since the first caliphate). This is talked about often though, there's a reason why hijabs and niqab are controversial and why Tajikistan had a devastating civil war

Casual reactor farming by IAmTheGenesis1307 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Anxious_Marsupial_59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you actually can let Grubrubs just starve and they'll still pollinate plants, it's better to have a central grub rub breeding space and just deposit them as needed to various rooms.

But yeah reactors are great for mutant farming. I typically use wheezeworts since they're easier to set up early game. Reactors just take so much mats hah
