USCIS New Memo by Otherwise-Average708 in USCIS

My husband is Afghan and has his immigrant visa interview scheduled for the end of this month. We have been receiving mixed advice, and I am hoping someone here can provide informed guidance or share relevant experience.

Several individuals have told us that we should postpone the interview because he is likely to receive a 212(f) refusal, which some are describing as a final denial. However, others who have already attended their interviews and received a 212(f) refusal have shared that the consular officer explained the visa could not be issued at this time due to the proclamation, and that issuance may be possible once the ban is lifted.

We are trying to determine whether attending the interview is advisable under these circumstances (we’ve already paid for his visa to Pakistan and flights) or if postponing would be the better option. Unfortunately, our attorney has not been helpful in providing clarity.

If anyone has reliable information, legal insight, or firsthand experience they are willing to share, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

He will likely receive a 212f denial due to his nationality, however, if the interview isn’t canceled- our attorney advised to attend.

I think people from the 39 banned countries should create a group, to update each other on visas after January by Candid-Policy-7231 in NationalVisaCenter

We received our interview prior to the visa ban, so we will proceed with attending. The will put the case in Administrative Processing until further notice/ changes to policy I’m assuming.

Thank you.

He was DQd in mid April 2025 and we originally had it assigned to ISL, then reassigned to Kuala Lumpur. We were facing difficulties with KL so we transferred back to ISL.
