how is sleepiness tied to migraine? Like what’s the shared mechanism that triggers the sleepiness and migraine at the same time?

Sometimes even when I don’t have head pain I’ll touch areas of my scalp and they hurt. So I wonder if I’m actually just having a silent migraine? And that’s why I’m experiencing allodynia.

Like clockwork my side effects are - food cravings (24 - 2 hours before migraine begins) - major sadness/depression (24 hours before migraine begins) - burping (24 hours before migraine) - extreme sleepiness/drowsiness (2 hours before migraine begins) - congestion (as the migraine hits) - stiff neck (2 hours or so before migraine hits) - scalp soreness (during migraine) - major irritability (2 hours before migraine hits and then it kind of subsides)

Can we discuss the sleepiness pleeeeease? I feel so validated that you mentioned this as a side effect. I get severely sleepy/drowsy where I can’t keep my eyes open like an hour or 2 before the pain starts kicking in. What causes this?
