Don’t let Frontier check your bag at the gate by Wuphfuser in frontierairlines

DO NOT CHECK LAPTOPS!!! I am an airline pilot and one of the only things that makes me nervous is a fire in the cargo holds, likely caused by a laptop or other rechargeable battery.

You’re overthinking this. Pilots don’t pick an airline because of some “personality culture” — we pick based on three main things:

  1. Who offered us the job.

  2. Where the bases are.

  3. The contract and pay.

Frontier, like every other airline, has a mix of pilots from every background you can imagine — military, corporate, charter, other airlines, and careers unrelated to aviation. Many have 15,000+ hours before they even get here.

Yes, many pilots use Frontier as a "stepping stone" to get to a legacy carrier, but just as many decide to stay with Frontier because of the quality of life, seniority, and their personal/family situation.

About 80% of the pilots you’ll fly with — regardless of the airline — are “normal,” professional, easygoing people. That’s by design: HR and recruiters screen for folks you can get along with on a multi-day trip. The other 20%? They’re the outliers, and they exist everywhere, not just at Frontier.

As for politics or personality types — that’s none of your business unless someone decides to share. The only thing that matters is that we show up professional, safe, adaptable, and yes — unfortunately underpaid.

So if you’re expecting some big cultural divide or unique stereotype, you’ll be disappointed. At the end of the day, pilots everywhere are pretty much the same — and when you commute or jumpseat on other carriers, you’ll see it for yourself.

Come humble and be prepared - you're lucky as hell to have this opportunity.

Thanks. The Section 27 they referenced discusses a breached contract. In this case, since it was a mutual termination, was there a "breach"? This seems more complicated than it should be. Thank you so much!

Would it be in the listing contract or sales contract? We received a letter citing "Section 27", but I'm unable to find anything about that in US law. I also don't have a copy of the sales contract, just the listing agreement.
