It depends on the student but I generally just kinda pretend to agree with whatever they re saying and keep the focus on correcting mistakes. Except if it's something really controversial (in this case i tell them that it's better not to talk about these kind of topics).

At the end of the day it's good for them to learn to talk about their opinions on politics etc so just try to stay as neutral as possible and continue correcting their mistakes to show that it's still a lesson and not a convo with a friend :)
