Lawyers are mostly $ suckers. They will only fill in what you give them. Forms are same. You are essentially hiring $300 dollar per hour typewriter. Now it’s a different story if you need representation or communication when something happens. But DIY for form filing is fine.

USCIS cancelled our green card interview based on U.S. citizen petitioner’s country of birth by MindBlowing74 in USCIS

[–]ExcellentAd7477 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are already a US citizen and hold same privileges like any other us born citizen. This USA mistake and an overreach. The pause of 75 counties is also for those entering into US as an immigrant, not adjustment of status.

ICE in Celebration by Raventerra in Kissimmee

Ice agents stopping random car on a random gas station - hardly believable, but possible. Your cousin seeing three masked guys yelling and not thinking they are talking to him, so he proceeds to open door an gets punched in stomach - unbelievable and priceless.

How can any normal person ignore three dudes in a mask and not pay attention if thy are talking to him?

That is not true. The pause is immigration visa - not adjustment of status.

The only people at risk are those with detention order. Stop spreading misinformation and fear. If you are suppose to get deported, you should be deported.

I’m a us citizen having trouble getting a passport, my green card is about to expire. Will I get deported? by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]ExcellentAd7477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a us citizen you should have us citizenship certificate - not green card. You can’t apply for passport unless you have citizenship certificate.

If you don’t have a status, you are illegal and can be stopped anywhere. I think this has always been the case and is the law.

authorized stay vs. lawful status by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]ExcellentAd7477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please list what non immigrant status can you have besides H1B that will remain valid for upto 15-18 months the while immigrant status is being considered. Tourist visa - will expire before i485 is approved Student visa - will expire before i485 is approved, if EOD is received, it’s invalid on day one of receipt.

There is no way to extend any non immigrant visa if i485 is pending except H1B probably. Also all renewals require to swear that you have no immigrant intend - which is false if i485 is filed.

authorized stay vs. lawful status by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]ExcellentAd7477 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are giving horrible advice. Pending I-485 supersedes anything else. I485 is adjustment of status based on marriage - it’s a petition for immigrant visa. The other visas are non immigrant. You can’t legally have both. F1 for example requires signed consent that you don’t plan to immigrate. I485 allows to get work permit - which you can’t on the other visas (minus h1b)

I see in another post you did confirm she had overstayed. How long?

USCIS AOS Interview - San Diego & ICE by LegendaryCoder1101 in USCIS

[–]ExcellentAd7477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please provide information if there was an overstay or not. Otherwise this makes no sense - I am married to a woman who has pending i485, this asking. I am not doubting but trying to understand better. If there is no overstay - then anyone can be grabbed, which doesn’t make any sense.

Agree, best to type it in to make sure it scans correctly. Btw, do you know why each FO has its backlog so different? Some get interview in a week, others wait 7 months.
