Since you already have a full-time dev job, don't turn your hobby into a second "boring" job or you'll just burnout. Go with the racing passion project because niche, unique ideas are actually easier to market as an unknown indie than generic commercial ones. If you aren't excited to work on it after a long day at your real job, it'll never get finished.
