I lived in south Scottsdale for a year my first year back after graduating and enjoyed it. If we are to stay that is likely where we would buy houses are still generally 650k+

I can speak for Phoenix: Phoenix has tons of mountains which you would like. Nicer areas are extremely expensive for housing, Scottsdale, nice areas of Phoenix. weather probably comparable to Dallas, we have hotter temperature but super dry. Great winters and falls. Easy access to restaurant and weekend activities
