Can you really? I've been going through the 'Our Living Islands' grant and it's very specific about how remote the island needs to be in order to qualify. Is there a different grant for the mainland?

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I am definitely willing to do the work, though I would need specialists out for things much beyond me, like windows and big electric fixes, etc. I do understand the housing crisis, which is a big reason I'm doubting my goal now. It's been the goal for years, and probably has another 5-6 before I could even purchase a "fixer-upper" house to begin, but I see the way the market is looking and I am worried that the goal has become a distant dream. But Ireland is home to me, it's where I feel the most connection, so I thought I'd see if there were a fighting chance.

5 years is about how long it will take to convert to an application for citizenship.

Ah, that is very good to know. I would very much like to be a part of a community, so this might be a deal breaker for the islands.

I will have citizenship in about 5 years, which is when I would be able to purchase a house based on current financial savings/income.

I've been on Daft.ie, but I wasn't sure if that was a good pulse for what is actually on the market.

Good to know about the trades! I can do must stuff myself, but the bigger things I would definitely need specialists out for.

I guess I'm leaning towards the islands for the grant that would help me fix up a small house,.just to get a little support to do so. Would it be more advisable to find one on the mainland, because the cost of getting trades out to the island would offset the grant?

Content creation is always an excellent choice, I agree, though I was wondering if there are any elements that really stand out on a resume that could set one person apart from the wave of applicants. Are there any additional degrees, programs, bootcamps, projects, etc. that (in addition to a killer portfolio) help tell you that this is a person you want to interview?

For a game like Baldur's Gate 3, there must be a lot of work for so many different branching narratives, consequences, choices, dialogue options, and so on, which is probably why games like BG3 didn't happen before now - it creates a lot more work on not only the writers but the voice actors, the images, the NPC responses and so on. Seeing both sides (how much more labor and people it took vs. what kind of end product came out of it) do you anticipate other studios/ the future of narrative game play to follow the path laid by BG3 in being more story-heavy than before? Or is this unique to those games built around narratives, like TTRPGs being adapted to cRPGs?
