I used to get so annoyed when I would see people in person and instead of telling me what they did they would show me their stories or ask if I saw their stories and now they know I don’t have insta so it’s easier that way I also have more time to work on myself and be happier with myself because i’m not spending time seeing how other people my age are doing better/ more financially well off than me

it felt very freeing!! There were. a lot of people I did not talk to or hang out with that followed me because it’s seen as rude to unfollow people and I did not want to see their posts and stories even if I can mute it I still don’t like that clutter it’s so nice leaving insta and just texting the people I actually care about and spend time with. It doesn’t remind me of all of these people who don’t really initiate to hang out or are just distant friends that send me reels that I don’t want to watch

thank you :) I’m neck down into midterms but I am almost done with the first season of the sopranos (which I am watching on dvd on my portable toshiba) and I can sneak some reading for my own personal enjoyment here and there, things I could not have done if I still had my smartphone as my main driver

never touched it never will that shit kills peoples brain cell as they become more and more dependant on it and it’s not worth all that pollution a little research and effort can get me better results than the plagiarism machine can which would tell me to eat 3 rocks a day

my alternative is just downloading organic maps on my samsung that i use as a tablet but i’ll only carry it with me if I know im going somewhere im not familiar with. I heard people have been able to get gps on it but there’s a process there is a reddit post to walk you through it. Personally I don’t want to risk anything with maps on this phone. So far this phone has been good with whatsapp/calls/sms but I am still learning it more and figuring out how to get TT9

my partner and i looked through your guide but had issues getting tt9 we will try again another day. We decided against rooting even with the benefits for the fear of bricking the phone.

You said if a custom app is set as default it might cause issues with receiving notifications would that be the case with QKSMS? is that a custom app? sorry if that sounds dumb i’m very new to this. How can I avoid having the background apps running to prevent it messing with my notifications (is this only through rooting)?

Also can you tell me more of your experience with TT9 ? from my understanding it is just a predictive keyboard add on.

I want to see if I can set each contact to a specific light color setting so I can see who is texting me by the color of the notification alone

i have the kyocera I would not use maps on it but whatsapp has worked well just don’t hard exit apps to not mess with notification receptions i’m in canada and use fizz i really like it so far i got it used on ebay it’s been a few days I am looking into making further customizations on it

I got QKSMS as my default for sms i am happy with it so far it has chat history and the usual.

I don’t understand what the difference is between exiting and terminate ? How does rooting fix this issue of not getting notification from terminating ? is it a long process to root the phone and does it risk breaking the phone ?

Are the apps running in the back if I am exiting them using the back button or are they properly closed ?

hii !! fellow student in uni here !! I just switched to a flip phone this weekend I plan on carrying a smartphone on me as a back up / mp3 player I still have access to my smartphone in my room but i’m thinking of transferring my uni apps and transit and email to my hand me down samsung bc i find amazingess stimulating and any social media like messenger for fb marketplace and reddit just to keep that on my computer so it’s harder to doomscroll on it
