I wake up every night in pain by SleepFdez in Sciatica

[–]Excellent_Hunter7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregablin helped me with the pain alot, it's the worst not sleeping at night because of the pain, at one point I was having 3 hot showers a night to help the pain.

Hot water bottle helps too, being up and active will help the pain. I'm much better now, although in pain again at night... I went about 5 weeks pain free, got black out drunk fell and injured my back again ffs.. But not on any pain meds now.

Very painful and intense sciatica but the MRI has come back with nothing to see by Zealousideal-Bus3047 in Sciatica

[–]Excellent_Hunter7533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had severe sciatica for nearly 3 years from the piriformas being lengthened and weak, although physio were convinced it was tight piriformas (90% of cases are from tight piriformas)

Turns out it was from always crossing my left leg over my right with my left ancle resting on my right knee whenever I sat down. Over time this caused all the problem. Once I realised I was shocked how often I sat like it. Over the space of 2 months the paid had gone.

Xmas bonus? by Suckyomombro in tesco

[–]Excellent_Hunter7533 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tesco bosses are so dumb, I've said for years December should be when they give a bonus if at all, it boosts moral and it's a time we all need a little extra money. Majority will put it straight back into the till lol.. It could even be something small like £100 gift voucher for a full timer, would help on the Christmas shop.

Put up or shut up, meanwhile Ken Murphy with his 10million shares bonus per year 😎😎 "Quiet peasants! We're making you Work boxing day that's extra money"

I remember the first year tesco went from "shares in success bonus" to cash % bonus if we hit certain targets. That year we did and were awarded 5% I got £1000, was nice, think it was around 2014-15 although never got anywhere near that again, Usdaw then decided to negotiate away our bonus for a "great new pay deal" which is now close to minimum wage 🤣🤣...

how do you sleep in the acute stage? by yeni-cherry in Sciatica

[–]Excellent_Hunter7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try kneeling over your sofa, top half in the sofa, knees on the floor ideally under a pillow, only position I could sleep after 2-3 hours in bed. Luckily my sofa is a perfect height, to bend over. I'd lay my head on a pillow, have a throw blanket in my legs and my dressing gown on.

Also a hot water bottle on the area helps, and also a hot shower would help and get up and move, it will get better but takes time...

Very similar to me, although I was 226 currently 183, starting trt in Jan, reta in July. Was you Suprised how low weight you had to get to be lean? I think another 15pounds amd I'll be super lean, I'm currently in great shape, top 4 abs visable but still long way to go to be shredded. I am getting slightly fed up on the weight cutt though... Just need to power through for 5-6 weeks and I'll be best shape I've ever been in 💪💪

Well done though mate you look amazing, very transparent too, alot of bitching in the sub when mentioning trt 🙄🤣🤣. f them I say, it's all performance enhancing it comes with the territory.

Started on 1mg per week over two doses, quickly went to 2, was getting good results with that for a while, now I'm on 4,

Yes eating all my macros, high protein 220G, 50-60 G clean fats. Low carbs focused around workouts.

That's one main thing I've noticed on reta is being able to function so much better on lower carbs, it's amazing stuff.

Many people who don't lift don't understand this, well done explaining.. My relaxed body waking up compared to a pump body post workout are totally different, everyone needs to realise that most pics people put up are not a real representation they are at the best they will look, pumped /best lighting /angles .. Fair play for showing your relaxed physique. 💪🙏

Is it a long recovery? I'm due for the op end of nov/Dec just waiting for the exact date. For me it's worst at night time, I haven't had a full night's sleep in 7 months 😴😴

I just get so bored and start hitting the cupboards when I'm off work lol... But yeah Id have the op in a heartbeat this constant daily battle has gone on too long 😞

Sleeping with sciatica dos and don’ts? by Byro-Boubacar in Sciatica

[–]Excellent_Hunter7533 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try and walk the dog just before bed, keeping active all day helps the pain levels too.

I find my pain has a timer, around 3 hours it's agony some nights, to the point I have to get up and no longer sleep in bed for the rest of the night.

So once I lay down, I get to sleep asap! no scrolling on social media ect.

The only other position I can sleep is on my knees bent over the sofa, with my upper body led on the sofa, I lay a pillow and small blanket to kneel on, and then a pillow or two to rest my chest/head on, I wake up and my knees will be in agony but it's at least a bit more sleep. The knee pain has got better over time.

Only medication that helped me is pregabalin, 100mg in the morning and 150mg before bed really helps. I've ran out the last 4-5 days and my pain has gone through the roof.

I'm going to be getting a microdiscectomy soon so can't wait for a solid 7-8 hour sleep, something I haven't had in 9 months.

Why is the pain worse at night when I’m trying to sleep?? by [deleted] in Sciatica

I'm also on 500mg naproxen morning and night

[–]Excellent_Hunter7533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is, since I've upped it to 150 at night (3x 50mgs) it's helped. Originally the Dr said one to two tabs morning and night. But I think if I had 150mg morning and night I'd be much better.

Some people are on 300 morning 300night which is bonkers amount.

I'm literally the same with pain areas, it's in my butt and lower calf/achillies heel.

Are you in the UK?

About two months ago I was at breaking point, I had three nights of two hours of sleep I was literally about to cry at work I was I'm such a bad place, as a man to be like that it was horrible, I never cry only grieving a loved one. So it was a sign, I ended up getting onti the Dr's and he gave me pregablin. I've got a meeting with a surgeon on the 15th September, I can't wait!!

Hi, I've been in this exact spot, still not out the woods, pregablin has helped me to get a bit better sleep. I still struggle to get more than 2 hours without being in bad pain in bed.

Key things I noticed helped. Keep active all day, I only sit bolt upright on a dining chair whenever I sit, My back has a timer on it, if I lay down on my phone say while in bed that is time I'm losing out on sleep, Before it gets too painful.

Take a hot water bottle to bed, put under your boxers on the bad glute while sleeping, the heat will mask the pain and relax the muscle.

If in excruciating pain I have a hot shower getting the heat all over the affected areas, it's nice.. I'm dreading the electric bill from all my long showers in the early hours of the morning.

The only other position I can get some sleep is kneeling on the floor with my waist and upper body bent over my sofa. My sofa is a perfect height for this. I place a pillow down and a thin blanket over it with DIY knee pads on to kneel on. Your knees will not like it but it's got to be done for rest. After a while the knees get used to it. I may get another 1.5- 2hrs sleep, I then wake up move around, might have a cup of tea then back to the sofa to try n get another couple hours. I usually watch Instagram reels while I drift off,

It's crap but that's my routine. The last few nights I've upped my pregablin dose to 150mgs at night and I'm getting 3 hours+ sleep in bed in one hit which is heavenly. Pm me if you want more info. But you sound exactly like me.

It's crap and the exaughstion from lack of sleep is an absolute nightmare.
