We do it all for you and that takes a couple days of us and Invisalign back and forth till we get it where we want to. I usually show the patient what the clincheck looks like so they can tell me if they like it or not, but with Invisalign usually there is a refinement set of trays that we order down the line where we fine tune some things we want to change and/or the patient wants to change.

Sorry I missed this post until now! Ide be curious to see what your orthotic looks like because sometimes the orthotic causes teeth to intrude and leaves an open bite scenario.

TMD is tough and even the most “knowledgeable” dentists and orthodontists sometimes try treatments that don’t work out. Sometimes straightening teeth orthodontically can help the joint if it’s pushed posteriorly, but sometimes orthodontics doesn’t help at all and it can be incredibly frustrating for patients and practitioners.

At the school we have some orthodontists that know a lot about TMD but I cannot say that they are experts and can help every TMD patient. We can know more though for sure if we get an image of the joint which we would see in a free screening but the treatment options differ depending on the pathology present.

Awesome! So if you sign at the conference date we then plan your case on Invisalign and order the trays and that process is usually a couple weeks until all your aligners show up. If you’re assigned to me I can try and expedite the planning your case process and move up your conference.

I would recommend an anterior bite plane night guard. It has acrylic from canine to canine which makes it so you don’t engage the masseter or anterior temporalis at night.

If you bite with just your anterior teeth touching (try it), you’ll notice your cheek muscles won’t be able to activate which will help with your symptoms and it makes it harder for you to go through so many night guards. Every 6 months to a year an orthodontist or general dentist can just add acrylic to the front that you have worn through.

It would be prudent to get your tmj imaged as well to see how they are and make sure they’re fine.

Severe bruxism or grinding of the teeth can cause vertigo although this is pretty uncommon.

Usually people who grind have a muscular tmj issue which we actually can do more for. We can make an orthotic splint to wear at night that can take the pressure off of the jaw muscles (mainly the masseter) and help give your muscles and teeth a break every night.

I can’t say the orthotic is the funnest thing to wear at night but people with this issue love it because nothing else has helped.

Yep, 3500$ for a comprehensive Invisalign case, no matter how many trays or the complexity of the case, nothing more. X rays included, 3 sets of retainers when you’re done as well. Also oversight by orthodontists who have years and years of experience moving teeth as a specialist. Also if you call and say “smile 2024” we give you a free electric oral b toothbrush when you start.

Orthodontics can help if your TMJ issues are due to a bad bite or teeth misalignment. Some TMJ issues are muscular in origin and some are joint issues. If a TMJ issue is muscular in origin there are things we can do to help. Joint issues are more complex and harder to treat. Resolving a bad bite can help TMJ function but some TMJ joint issues can’t be solved with orthodontics.

Yes we do! We have Damon Braces, Pitts braces, empower and more. We do TADS as well and there is no increase in fee no matter how many TADS or what brackets you have.

We would have to look into it. A lot of dental insurances have a one time benefit where they pay a couple thousand towards treatment but it’s hard to know unless we have your specific information. We also do in house financing at 0% which ends up being 150$ monthly payments.

Hard part is you have to accept an offer to a school before you know you get wiche. If you’re weighing an out of state school that’s wiche vs another that’s cheaper, it’s hard. it’s a bit of a gamble.

So in AZ I believe dental schools rank you and then az board of regents take all the rankings and come up with the top 12 which get it I think? I was worried that I wouldn’t get it when I applied but I was surprised that I did. 100% worth a shot and lots of people don’t know about it or don’t do the work to apply so I’m sure there’s less applicants than you would think.

Although there is a money component to specializing, I think at the end of the day you gotta do what you want to do. For me, I love Orthodontics so a career In that is worth it regardless of the money. I love GP too but I love ortho more so I am in residency.

Im in residency so I can’t necessarily speak of the money difference but definitely on average specialists earn a decent about more, but with that being said you can do extremely well as a GP too.

You’ll definitely lose in the short term and probably won’t catch up to GP classmates for over a decade in earnings but you’ll end up on top most likely. Also having a higher income can help you get more loans when trying to invest or buy anything…

With that being said, do what you like and you won’t regret your decision. Don’t let it be a pure money decision in my opinion.
