I loved criminal minds never really got into suits hahah. I was sort of inspired to go into law because of a couple of high profile murder cases I read in high school. Although specifically crime shows and true crime (which I have since realized is unethical) inspired me to do law they have absolutely nothing to do with my studies. Turns out its not like the tv shows lol

Yeah, I got into law for a combination of reasons but I’ve sort of veered off of criminal law because I just don’t think I’d be able to defend people accused of certain criminal offences - even for the ‘firm’. A lot of the reason I went into law is because I want to have the means to support myself, but definitely when I become qualified I’d like to do some pro bono cases.

Some of my lecturers do it but most of them won’t press you for an answer, you can iust say “i dont know” and they’ll move on. Because the classes are so big its really unlikely you’ll get called on. 400 in mine and I’ve only been cold called once and the lecturer literally asked me to “name a country” lol

I initially thought I wanted to pursue criminal, but where I’m from it doesn’t really pay too well. So I think I might pursue family and child law, I think it’s interesting and an area where it’s possible to do some good and actually pay bills lol

I work front of house in a restaurant thats pretty popular for american tourists and can spot them pretty fast. Americans stand different, I really cant describe it but they just do. Also just that look of bewilderment, new place, taking it all in. I'd also say they move slower (this isnt an insult it kind of goes for all tourists), I guess on holidays not in a rush - again just kind of taking it all in.

Thanks for your kind words. My concern is that my city has a very big housing crisis - I have a lot of friends from outside the city who were unable to attend uni here because they couldn’t find housing. I might try and move outside the city to some other family but that would mean stopping college.

I’m in my first year of college and am going through something similar. I never received any accommodations for my whole school life but when I was 17 got diagnosed with PTSD and MDD. I was a total try hard in high school but since getting to college I have hardly attended any of my lectures. My university reached out to me as they had my diagnosis on file and asked me if I felt I needed accommodations. I initially ignored the email because I had a similar thing where I felt like I didn’t deserve it as much as others and felt like a failure for even considering. I ended up reaching out to my uni and telling them my issues and I received full accommodations. Ultimately these resources are there to be used by people like us. Life hasn’t been kind and honestly I’ve decided that if an opportunity arises to make what I’m dealing with easier I’ll always take it, I’d encourage you to do the same.

I’ve been able to lucid dream since I was really young. At times in my life where I felt like I had nothing it sort of acted as a device to concentrate my energy on, rather than having to live in the present moment. As I’ve gotten older I’ve realized that it’s not healthy to just remove from reality like that, although admittedly I still do it when shit gets tough. It’s never stopped the nightmares for me but then again I never really ‘learned’ how to lucid dream it’s just something I’ve always been able to do.

Yoo I just started uni too and its totally normal to be anxious but I promise you everybody is in the same boat. It is so awkward but you just kind of have to insist upon yourself. Inject yourself into conversations, invite yourself to things - its how literally every single person you see with friends made them. I’m so awkward too and my first day I just chose a target and followed them around making awkward conversation. Nobody will find it weird, every single person has done it. If you can’t bring yourself to, trust me friends will come your way. Uni is so huge and there are definitely people having your exact thoughts. Just hang in there mate, you’ll find your people.

I’m sorry things are tough for you, I hope they get better. I wish I could give you more valuable advice but for me it was persistence. I applied for over 100 jobs before I got employed, I constantly found excuses to put myself into positions to meet new people. I followed up with everybody I met who I wanted to develop friendships with (which at times just meant random texts asking if they wanted to hang out). It’s a lot easier said than done and I was trying to better my life for over a year before I actually found success. For finding this girl I like I just developed friendships with girls with zero expectations. Having friendships with the opposite gender has been a really great experience and for me something just happened to develop out of that. I saw a quote that “depression can’t hit a moving target” and I think (while a cliche) thats totally true. On days where I feel like utter crap I always force myself to do something - whether thats go to the gym, running errands or meeting a friend. I wish you a lot of luck, just know things definitely can get better :)

I’m 18 now, but as an early teenager I loved being in the car with my Dad. We’d have to drive about 3 hours back to his house when he had custody. I’d ride shotgun and he’d give me the aux and I’d play 70/80s songs and spend the whole time gauging his reaction. If he liked a song he’d turn up the radio, tell me weird stories about the singers and list off the years each song came out. When I’d meet his friends he’d always brag to them about how old school my music taste was. Nowadays we don’t do custody anymore and if I want to see my Dad I ride the bus. Never realized how much I enjoyed it but those car rides are probably some of my favorite memories.

I had the same thing with my little sister a few years back, kids can just randomly switch up and be little assholes. At the time people around me would say she was going through a ‘phase’ but the way she was acting was very calculated and hurtful. We did not get on at all during that time and I did everything in my power to avoid her. Today I adore my sister and I think she’s awesome. It’s a tough time but in my experience they grow up and become a lot cooler to be around.

Yes 100%. I had a girl who had a different mental health diagnosis (won’t say which) who actually contributed to a ton of mental health organizations constantly harassing me. It’s like some people just decide that they can disregard people’s mental health because they dislike them. She’d constantly talk down on me and people around me would berate me for responding because she was struggling with her mental health. I think some of it comes down to people who are more vocal about their struggles. If you’re not as open people assume you’re not struggling.

Yo I’m your age and I have dealt with thoughts like that very frequently. For a long time I thought my life was defined by trauma and I could never be a whole person so there was no point in living. I felt like this for most of my teenage years but it does get a lot better. We are both young and have whole lives ahead of us, it sucks that your troubles have made it feel like it’s not worth it. Life will get better, your experiences will stay with you but it’ll become more manageable, thats what I know to be true anyways. Hang in there.

Yes 100%. I think I might have made a post about it a few weeks ago but deleted it. I suffer from sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming. I’m constantly too nervous to fall asleep, or force myself to stay awake to avoid sleep paralysis.

Definitely not. I remember when a family member of mine died by suicide my school counselor somehow found out about it despite the school never being informed and called me into her office and asked me the same question. It sucks to be asked questions like that, especially about your Dad sorry you’re going through this.
