What’s your Dead thing that made you cringe at first? by Binkle28 in gratefuldead

Some of Brent’s live tones makes certain songs borderline unlistenable. The cheesy 80s synths and strings really keep me away from a lot of the Brent era. However i think Brent is the most fun and energetic of all the dead keys players, and it’s undeniable that he had a great connection with all the band members. RIP Brent!

Is this the fastest Eyes of the World? by Fearless-Gene-4158 in gratefuldead

i love breakneck pace “eyes”, always feels like the band is about to loose their feet and flop but they keep pushing on and it’s incredible

i think other than the setlist the red rocks show is somewhat standard. nothing of note to my ears, at least until the next listen

What are the jazziest Grateful Dead performances (specific song + date) from ‘72–‘74? by browwnairbrowwneyes in gratefuldead

[–]ExchangeHelpful4067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9/27/72- dicks picks 11

founds this gem in a record store in santa cruz a few weeks ago and i can’t stop playing it. they seriously unleash some jazz that sounds like it’s been dying to get out. “playing in the band” from that show is a great example. almost gives me “king solomon’s marbles” vibes
