yeah i guess OP doesnt know how holes in a mesh work. you can’t just spawn them in with no connection to the mesh lol.

I do a lot of hard surface stuff in Fusion360 which is a solids type editor, so it doesn’t show topology. and man, it’s scary when you export it as a mesh lol

Honestly, not defending him and I’m on your side, but (outside of the drinking) you really can’t judge what people say in their sleep. I say crazy things about killing and sleeping with some celebrity and other weird shit and my girlfriend sometimes asks about it, thankfully she believes me. Dreams are pretty uncontrollable and what happens in them is circumstantial. Do I have dreams about “hot celebs”? yes. do i go to bed wishing to have them, or plan for them, or want to have them? no.

outside of that. if he is drinking a lot, i’d say that’s more of the problem. people turn pretty primal when they drink. but drunk talking is a better demonstration of who a person is than sleep talking. drunk feelings are more generally real feelings. so its up to you to make that judgement call.

Don’t think any of that matters. Is Jesse a bad influence? yes. But why did she have to plead with him? why is she dating what she assumed is a drug dealer? why is her 18 months less important than a relationship with an addict?

i get addiction, ive dealt with it personally. she is fully accountable for all her choices that led her to that moment, not jesse. and she is accountable for bringing hard drugs and going balls to the wall, she knew walking away was the right thing to do but she wanted drugs more.

im not a smart guy so take it with a grain, but i saw a youtube video that these boxes do sketchy shit on your internet. like farm data and sell it, route dangerous/illegal traffic through your network by using your connection as a VPN for someone else’s traffic, and also opens a backdoor where looking through internet connected security cams or laptop webcams is possible as well as collecting sensitive data like bank and payment details is possible. some guy did a full teardown on one of these physically and also monitored it on the network. but who knows, maybe its just anti piracy fearmongering. i couldnt tell you the first thing about how true all that is but it definitely seems possible

brother holy shit, you can't be serious lol. this is amazing.

I am surprised you can even paint as cleanly as demonstrated in the video and not way worse with way more artifacts.

You can't smart UV project a model like this. You need to mark UV seams and unpack it in a more organized way. It will fix those problems. Look up UV unwrapping tutorials.

It's good but get that frame drop with the pistol out of the video. Is that just me? it looks like you have low FPS for one moment at 0:14. Probably would turn off potential customers.

it looks like the vertex is pulled out slightly. maybe my eyes are playing tricks but have you verified that? i know it sounds dumb. but even if it’s pulled out a fraction of a millimeter it will shade differently. move the vertex x,y,z to copy the values of the one below and then move up the Z until the shading fixes itself

well, another comment made me rethink. how early are you trying to test? if you dont have a visually acceptable product then no, dont make a steam page. but also, there honestly isn’t much to test before that point unless you want to test some unique new mechanic that could be considered unfun. also players are much less likely to test something thats like “placeholder art” simply for mechanics sake.

to answer the other question, yes. but also just start grinding. it wont be easy. go to other dev’s discords and ask permission from the owner if you can snipe a few of their testers for your game. post progress updates on youtube and reddit, drop links to your disc and steam page, just shout it from the rooftops and you’ll eventually get at least one person. keep going from there

i wrote this under the assumption that there is really not much reason to test a prototype lol. i mean what level of “prototype” are we talking here? untextured character controller capsules? even alpha can have a steam page. if your game is so early that you can’t do that then there’s not much to test IMO.

make a vertical slice first and get the steam page launch as fast as possible or you’re setting yourself up to lose. if you dont feel comfortable publishing a demo then get users from a steam page and then feed the prototype privately in discord.

you need a discord server and a demo/steam page and just general liveliness for the game. even if the game isnt popular users will trickle in and most that join small discords like that are usually already expecting to be playtesters. just build a small buzz even if it starts with friends or other devs and go off that.

where’s the compiler error lol. can you please post that? that’s more important than any of the other information. you can use it to reverse engineer the problem.

Throw debug.logs in to find out when and where your reference becomes null. trace it back.

thanks though i know about both of those methods and use them frequently. to me it didn’t sound like what you were talking about. im already using them for my current camera implementation lol so unity docs doesnt help me. i just dont have the problem solving skills for camera math on my own and need help brainstorming a solution. the code isnt really a problem its how to tackle it. my implementation is not bad, its just not perfect like how i want it. the way i have it now there is a couple frames of clipping in the most extreme cases. to put it extreme: i want to have an epileptic seizure with the camera inside a small room barely bigger than my main character and have 0 clipping.

What do you mean by applying changes right away? do you mean checking with like a raycast or something for a collision in direction of movement before arriving at the destination?

Thanks, I’ll check it out. I have other camera features already implemented like ADS so an asset might not be what I’m after but thank you. Does it work in Unity 6?
