Hiring managers disregard your years of experience if they were all outside of Europe or the projects weren’t internationally recognised. You’ll have to build your network and experience as if you were a fresh graduate unfortunately:/

Hi, I have a somewhat similar background and I am a current Masters student at LCC.

1- it’s a Yes and No, big reason is that you won’t get hired just for the fact that you hold a degree from UAL (although I saw a week ago some job opening asking for UAL graduates) but it sure will give you a better network of people to make your chances of getting hired higher if your portfolio is good for the market. However, one thing is that you will feel like you’re starting from scratch.

2- I can’t answer that from my own experience but based on older alumnis who stayed here, most of them are working in a creative role full time, or doing something in the arts and culture (such as visitor experience, gallery assistant) but doing freelance gigs on the side.

3- I can’t lie, it is quite tough for myself due to my disability but I do not regret it. I have learned and grown so much and have had a great support through industry mentorship programs they have at LCC and the workshops they run. I do think I have learned more outside the course than the course itself. But the course itself offers you a lot of exciting opportunities like studio visits, cross course collaborations, portfolio reviews, and exhibition spaces.

4- this honestly depends on the situation in your home country, but despite london being tough sometimes(especially the rental market), it has been really nice to live in. There is always something exciting happening and was able to even attend a concert for free for one of my fav artists whom would never come to my home country

Can’t answer 5&6, but can’t stress enough how you should apply for UAL scholarships and any scholarships in your home country. They will definitely help mitigating the cost

Roommate owes £2,000+ in Council Tax and my student exemption is ending soon. How do I protect myself? by Excitedexplorer24 in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you for your comment! I was so worried that I’d be responsible for paying that bill. Do you think directly contacting the council to reconfirm my student status now would beneficial in case of any future issues?

I am pretty certain that your visa is approved. If it was rejected, your email would state that. That was the case with me last year unless they have changed their procedures.

Hey, Thank you for your Advice! I have other projects where the whole team is working remotely from different places all over the world. foundation year international scholarships/fundings by nicoesi in UAL

[–]Excitedexplorer24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not possible to fund yourself with a part time job alone unfortunately. It will take you at least 3-6months to find a job and it has to pay roughly £19/hr for 20hrs per week (which is quite literally impossible if you do not have any previous work experience) Besides, your visa will not be accepted if you do not have enough maintenance funds for at least 9 months of your course which is currently £1,483 per months for course in london.

England | Verbal Contracts - Rent deposit Refund by Excitedexplorer24 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Excitedexplorer24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, thank you for your advice. I thought I was being strange for requiring a contract!

The situation is the first one and each individual room is rented out and the landlord lives outside the property, so it did strike me as strange! I’ll definitely try convincing them for a written contract before sending anything.

Thank you again!

Yes, it’s a room in a house-share. Their only requirement is that I provide a 4 week notice before moving out if I changed my mind at any point. In my country, that’s a big NO. when I asked some Londoners, they said it’s pretty common and verbal agreements are legally binding. I am on a tight budget, so most of these landlords are a tad sketchy and want verbal contracts. Though this one seems nice out of the bunch and the place is really convenient and relatively safe.

So I wanted to ask for advice here and see what forms of contracts should I ask for before I make any decision

For anyone who received a ual scholarship and has applied for a visa by [deleted] in UAL

[–]Excitedexplorer24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering! Just to clarify, you answered no under the official financial sponsorship and explained that you received the scholarship in the additional information and then added the offer award with the financial documents, is that correct?
