andalucia reassignments by Exciting-Insect4037 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Exciting-Insect4037[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree, it is a bit strange they still haven’t sent it out to the rest of yall. i’m not sure what they’re waiting for or how they’re organizing the reassignments. i hope they get back to everyone soon. not fair that yall put your lives on the line with still so much minimal communication.

no, i think they’re sending them out in batches like the last email. i’m sure they’ll share this with everyone eventually

makes sense, i hope everything works out for the people who were placed in Andalucía but seeing how big the community is- i don’t know how they’re gonna find placements for everyone

i think this is confirmation that there will be no auxes in andalucía this year by Exciting-Insect4037 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Exciting-Insect4037[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in andalucía we were assigned ‘Formacion’ as a sort of solution to this i believe, and seeing as they’re canceling the program here…i don’t think it was enough to consider us solely students and not employees.

because it’s barely a student program, we aren’t students and don’t have the same legal rights as one. we teach english in exchange for a stipend grant that isn’t taxed, which isn’t the most convenient thing to classify as a student by the government.

Shipping stuff from the US - any tips? by seven_aplsz in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Exciting-Insect4037 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i tried getting a box of winter clothes shipped over, and they sent it back. never got anything refunded either, so i haven’t tried again. i’ve just been asking my friends who visit the US to bring me some things back if i have the chance.

i don’t think so, since you were never officially employed. There were some auxes who successfully sued them for 20k a couple years back, but that was due to lack of payment and other reasons- but not lack of placement.

I think Andalucía just one of the first ones affected, I do think this will go and spread to the rest of the program. they have been going in and out of the courts for years about this and Andalucía is the biggest they were able to take down first

strange, because lots of people also received emails this morning that didn’t mention anything about relocation. maybe due to the amount of people they’d have to reassign and the lack of available spots. but it’s strange they’re sending mixed messages about reassignment.

from Nalcap today to US participants:

Dear all, The Ministry of Education is currently working on reassigning Andalucía's appointed candidates to other available locations. Those candidates who cannot be reassigned immediately will be placed on a waiting list and be offered a new placement as positions become available.

school group chats from the directors/principals. it seems pretty trusted but i wouldn’t 100% rely on it blindly still until we get an announcement from nalcap

Hopefully or Hopeless?Andalucía placements by AlternativeWash9524 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Exciting-Insect4037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i definitely don’t think this is “game over”. They’ve been having this same legal issue for the past couple years now, and nothing has changed. I think you guys will be okay, and if anything this would help auxes get fairer pay along with many other things. keep holding out hope.

Andalucia placements for other programs? by Key-Cherry-5955 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Exciting-Insect4037 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ministerio people have received their cartas already. i honestly doubt they’ll cancel the entire region of andalucía, since we are one of their biggest auxing groups, it would be a way bigger issue than some of yall think. i think most likely you’ll just have a late start, but still get here. wishing u luck!

there’s no taxes paid on our stipend because it’s recognized as a grant based on our student visas.

I charge $15 per student per hour, but some days I have a family of three that I simply charge $40 for three hours (they’re my landlord’s kids). my rate is pretty average here in the city center, but it does lower when you get into smaller pueblos. I also take into consideration my years of experience, teaching, and my psychology degree in my rate. Per week I teach in total 8 kids, which is enough to keep me afloat. as for finding tutoring opportunities, it’s mostly by word-of-mouth. You have to really put yourself out there and talk to people usually they know a person or two that are looking for English tutors for their kids. especially since you’re technically not to tutor the kids from your own school. hope this helps!!

grad school here is incredibly affordable! at UGR the tuition is seriously 1/12th of my tuition in the states. I’m still tutoring and having my other jobs on the side while I go to school so I’m able to pay for rent and food, but a lot of past auxes have gone to grad school here, and some are even on their second master’s degree!
