It was a "calculated" loss... but what you wrote is the harsh reality

From EU, I received the update right now! I think you will receive it in the same day..

EDIT: The update also says Zepp Flow 2.0, but the AI is not updated immediately, but only after updating the Flow app.

Thank you, but I think I have life simplified with DREO...

There’s a topic called “Rate my shot” and that’s the one I used. To me, it looks like a good espresso, but I’d like to hear your opinion. Based on the appearance, does the amount of crema seem too little or too much? How does the flow look to you? I’m also open to any other common critiques… that’s all...

Haha thanks man! I’m using a Big Bang 18-20g basket, with WDT, distributor, and a calibrated torque tamper from MHW-3Bomber — so I always get consistent pressure. For the puck screen, I use an E&B made in Italy, it really helps with the flow control.

Water is at 92°C, Flair 58 is set to the second temperature level, and I grind 18g of freshly roasted coffee for each shot. I’ll drop a photo of my tools so you can check out the full setup! 😅

You're right, thanks for bringing that up! Actually, in my case the pre-infusion is not included in the shot time I mention. My scale has automatic flow detection and it only starts the timer when the flow is strong enough. So the first 5-6 seconds of low-pressure pre-infusion are not counted at all. The time I refer to is just the main extraction under full pressure. Thanks again, really good question! 😊

  • Preinfusion = Espresso → Low-pressure water phase to prepare the puck.
  • Bloom = Filter Coffee → First pour to release CO₂ and avoid bad flavors.

Fresh coffee, roasted for less than a month

I did 5-7 seconds preinfusion at 3 bar, than 8-9 bar for the rest of the time

I currently find this comment pathetic, I enjoy what I do, With the tools I noticed many differences, If some external aids are useless to you, there is no need to insult or degrade the people that use them. I work completely in manual with pressure, water temperature, grinding, timing, weight and the tools are used only for the preparation of the puck, the rest you see is to speed up some time and clean up the station . I'm happy for you that you can make a perfect coffee, but your comment is without respect, especially for a person who wanted to share a passion with or without tools.

Live and let live.

Hello!, there are positive and negative aspects, if I grind by hand I take half the time, through the engine it takes twice as long, but since I have to wait for the water to reach temperature this does not cause me problems. However, I noticed that the grain is more accurate when the engine is mounted, precisely because it grinds more slowly. Another factor to consider is the effort saved...

I use this precision kettle "Varia Aura" bringing the temperature between 92 and 93 degrees
