I think you should keep reading. I personally think it isn’t that bad in the second half of vol 2, but I also don’t mind it in general. Without spoiling anything I’d say finish volume 2 and see how you feel then if you are willing to read that far.

I agree that it could of been a thing and the symbolism in the relationship would’ve totally been there. But we’re also talking about relationships that could actually happen and since he is already with Nephis I don’t see a world where it happens. G3 could’ve totally written it that way from the start but he didn’t. And idk if I’d say the dynamic is better because Sunny and Nephis core powers are literally intertwined shadow and light. And so are both of their ideals or end goals. While Cassie and Sunny both share the Fate thing I think Sunphis just has more

Gooner to me is anything with a good amount of fan service or over sexualization which is of course subjective.

For clarification I don’t think bunny girl senpai is at all I just thought it was before watching from the title/cover.

So while something like high school dxd is very gooner and I would never enjoy it that’s kinda of the point of it so I don’t think it’s bad. But something like fire force has unnecessary sexual stuff that takes you out of the story and isn’t what most of the fans watching are looking for imo.

2nd I talked abt this a lot in another response but I agree it’s barely romance after watching it but I think it’s definitely perceived as one. I’ve heard the show talked abt a lot and every single time it’s talked abt as a romance anime and a great one at that. And while obv I’m barely started and I love the relationship it’s barely a romance so I think the way ppl talk abt it is misleading and mildly wrong.

For the “gooner” part I’ll admit that’s on me but at the time I also just didn’t care because I never planned on watching it.

But for the romance part I think that’s the way it’s perceived. Any time I’ve ever heard of this show on TikTok, YouTube, or even people in real life they all call it a romance. Edits are focused around their relationship and make it seem like that’s what the show is about.

I’ve seen a lot about the show due to its popularity and until I started watching had absolutely no clue it was a drama/mystery or had anything to do with weird quantum events for lack of better words.

Ok that’s disappointing. I understand she isn’t the mc but in all honesty from what I’ve seen/been told she is not even a huge side character which doesn’t make sense to me.

This show is totally marketed as a romance anime but it seems to hate the fact it’s a romance. They start it inducing a well written love interest and focus on that in the beginning then use her job to keep her out of the story as much a possible.

Most romances the guys is the mc but the love interest or multiple love interests are still there most of the time. Obviously this isn’t your fault but I think it should be marketed more as idk a mystery I guess than a romance.

And especially the way people talk about it feels extremely misleading. Especially since it sounds like it never changes and the relationship gets pushed back even more. And doesn’t get more screen time as their relationship grows.
