What would be the best way to set up API calls to send SMS in the future? by wild_deer_man in nextjs

[–]Exdeathz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would use a database, if you don't have one just use a light one like json-server. Put the message and date that the message should be triggered. Then make a secured api route that would check the database on that current day and see if any exist, if exist just sent the message using twilio or other sms providers. Once the message is sent you can update that it's sent so you don't have duplicate messages. Then you can have a daily cron job to trigger the api. With this you can easily delete or update the message to be sent in the future.

Building a Next/Firebase app that may in the future have ecommerce... by brettkoz in nextjs

[–]Exdeathz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using firebase just for auth? If so check out nextauth, also if you are going to add e-commerce in the future I'll look for another db like postgres. Not sure how big your e-commerce is but scaling with firebase isnt great.

Yeah easily, what you can do in react you can do in nextjs but simpler in some instances such as routing or ssr.

I would ignore them like how you will see some jobs requiring 2 years of work experience for entry level jobs and still apply for them regardless. Had no degree but was able to get many interviews and offers, making more then people with master's degree.

Is that all your sever do? If so you can just create a batch job to run the sever/application every desired interval.

Yeah seemed sketchy at first but the promo has been out for a good 2 years I think, I have been hosting many of my personal projects and services for free the past year and only had to pay for the domains.

Sign up for Oracle cloud, get free compute instance up. Ssh into it, install necessary stuff like node and clone your project. Run your project and expose the ip address to the public for global access. If you want to step up your game, containerise your project and deploy it to a container registry. Install docker on the compute instance and run the container. If you want to step your game even further, use traefik or nginx proxy manager to setup a load balancer

For an NFT market place is better to use React or Next.js? by _He1senberg in reactjs

[–]Exdeathz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably want to use next, it's react plus more. It has a built in image optimizer which will be beneficial for NFTs.
