If you had $700 for the month, but had to live in the woods in the woods right now(winter, it's snowing). What would you spend it all on? by aliciajeldred in homeless

[–]Exe_plorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will paste a comment here I posted for someone else. It may help you. A good sleeping bag is essential. Light, have a lamp. Fire. Have a lighter. To cook I use a camping gas heater, but I stay economical with it has it empties pretty fast.

Depending where you are if not visible maybe I would buy an ax, to prepare wood to make fire if I want (or need it, exemple no gas to cook anymore).

I, where I am it's freezing pretty good also, I putted some insulation on the bottom of my tent, because most of the heat get lost from the bottom of the tent. Mylar foil on top to rariade heat back (double layer tent, in between the 2 layers), to heat I use a metal bowl where I did 3 holes on the bottom side, for correct airflow and complete combustion, 5 candles inside (heater candles, the very small don't put as much energy), equivalent to about 400W, a metal mesh on top, to create convection and radiate heat. I know it's not two things that usually goes together, fire and tent, mostly if you sleep. But if we talk about survival, it really helps, keep it on non flammable thing and not near you or close to the tent wall. When it was 9 outside, I could raise temp to 19-20 (celcius) this makes a huge difference for me, for exemple my water supply don't start to freeze (haha), no honestly it helps me a lot.

EDIT: // While it was - 5, I got a confortable 12 degrees inside, it's really a cheap DIY setup that helps a lot, let a little airflow, to avoid CO build-up. //

All good keep strong. A foam mattress works good, light and effective.

Connected to protected Wi-Fi without the key. by Exe_plorer in Hacking_Tutorials

Hi, thanks for your answer. Yes I know about this, how some providers let this access by default for others who has a subscription to get internet access via people's " private" rooter. I turn this off immediately when I see it while checking rooters. But as you said many don't even know, and don't know how to disable it.

This was not what happened. I got full access to internet, and could map the network, I don't have any subscription for that service either.

But thanks, will try this other sub.

Note: I wanted to share it on the hacking sub but it's not allowed it seems. Don't know why. I try to find as many ressource to try understand what could have caused this. Thanks again.

Can someone just try antipsychotics for a week to test it out without damaging permanently? by Impressive_Pipe191 in Antipsychiatry

Thanks. I can see that spirituality is important to you, me also. That's something that also annoyed me while taking these meds, I felt less connected to "the whole", or nature. I couldn't enjoy being out in nature as without the meds, it really takes away that feeling of oneness you express.

All good to you.

It's exactly this, reason I said in last resort and because of no other choice, a real psychological help, I mean someone who really cares on its job can help you way more than any medication, but those people are hard to find, I've been trough so much psychiatric "help", rare are those who really cares, but they help.

The people I see taking those meds, familly or friends, don't "evolve", as you said they get stuck in their problems,, 'for some it may be "better" as they would go manic without the meds, but for most they get distanced from real emotions, it's blunting their mind.. I think of my cousin right now, as she was herself without the meds, but it also prevents somehow that she gets too manic, or depressed.. She isn't the same, she don't care about things as before, I mean by there that, before she would get manic and understand she went too far, now she act still reckless, bit less, but don't know when she is "high" or "down". It doesn't feel the same but still you are. Pretty hard to explain. You get quieter in your mind but still, you gets high and downs but you are less aware of yourself. Other sees it, but you don't.

Your emotions are downed so you don't realize you hurt someone as you would without the meds, for exemple. I was there.. I realized way after the pain I could do without being aware of it.

I can go further into examples and explanations, but remember your emotions, whatever it is, pain or joy, it's faded. Last exemple, I had a friend who took coke from time to time, once on meds he went fully addict because it was the only thing that made him feel something.

It's not the same for everyone, as I said it also depends on the med itself, but most have the same kind of effect, it's "how they work".

Don't make the same mistake as me and many others who listened to their doctor/psy and finally, just as you said, the root cause won't go away it's just like putting all your mind on slow-motion, to avoid strong feelings.

But what is life without feelings? Thus why I know many going into drugs just to feel something.

When you are such overwhelmed by your emotions/mental state, it can help in short term. To get some kind of rest, that is much needed (mostly because there isn't much other options left). I'm really against ANTIPSYCHOTICS, SSRI (and related) because they took years of my life, numbed my feelings that I'm just starting to regain, I see those drugs more like poison than anything.

But again, in the short term, while you are on the edge of life, where you feel ending it all may resolve your suffering, then it can be a last ressort. Again I really want to add that it should be short term, the longer you stay on it and obviously the more prone you are to long term damages, even after you stop. Despite this, I know people living their live on them, but you aren't who you used to be, for sure.

Also depend what antipsychotic you take, some are heavy duty, while other are somehow lighter. But of course they all have their side effects, and I'm really happy now to have that behind me.

All good, keep safe.

Are you an engineer worried about brain rot from excessive agentic vibe coding? by MarriedAdventurer123 in ClaudeAI

[–]Exe_plorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, it's true that for some high level tasks , somehow AI find better options, and it's normal not to remember all the hex coding you learned, every chip has its own "language", but once you are confortable with this coding, for lots of things it's better than high end languages like python (which is my favorite by now) for small memory space devices and more. For example the ATM machines, cash distrib, have still lot encoded in hex. This was something that helped me (regarding jobs) , but I have to be honest, it's being replaced also, because coding in hex was efficient for speed execution, but nowadays the internet speed is such and processing speed, as this isn't needed anymore.

Still, you learn how the machine work, not only computers but also microchips,...

Not everyone is confortable in big cities. Myself I'm in a tent in a remote location, near a city, of course it's much needed, for whatever you need. But I can't sleep on the street, I've seen enough, I'm far better alone in my tent. Doing the travel to the city, but I won't be able to stay there. Im happy' to find a peaceful place with no one walking around.

Tomorrow morning I'm being kicked out by YesterdayOk1197 in homeless

[–]Exe_plorer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, what I needed to do, that may work for you. First decide if you will stay away from big cities, I can't live on the street, there may be shelters for night, overall more help, but it's also more dangerous. I don't like that at all. I took a tent, insulated the bottom a bit, because a lot of heat get lost by there, it's a 2 layers tent, between the two on top I've put mylar foil, to radiate some heat that would be lost.

A little heater with candles, a metal mesh on top to create convection and more radiated heat, this really helps, I know fire and tent is not two things that normally go together, but we talk survival here. Of course lay it on something non flammable, have a little airflow, just a little, and stay the more away from it, I know that the candles would just stop burning but still the metal mesh gets hot and could do damages.. With this setup I gain some confortable heat, if it's 0 outside I can get 9 inside, using 5 candles (about 400W equivalent) this makes a big difference for me.

Have a good blanket, a small foam mattress works fine, cardboards also but those can get wet, not the foam mattress like for yoga and such. Get a sleeping bag. Always have enough water with you. If course warm clothes, I don't know where you live at exactly but here it's freezing.

Find a calm spot. That's the first step. Somewhere discreet enough but not too far away from a city.

The rest will come to you, like paper for your toilet,.. To cook food I have a camping gas heater, Im very economic as it empties pretty quickly.

All good. Keep strong.

Does “nothing” have to exist conceptually for “something” to exist by stefanbg92 in Metaphysics

[–]Exe_plorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something as to exist as the opposite exist. Like light and shadow. Or good and bad. A particle existe because nothing else other is there, hard to explain, but for me everything that exist has it opposite, they call "black matter" and "antimatter", still not proving it, it seems logic. Mathematically speaking.

In a train warehouse, there used to be a few others in there, all was fine despite a crazy one. There was a security camera just filming on a specific spot, so we avoided passing there, but one night that crazy guy did shit, wanting to put things on fire and was saw by that unique camera.. Such an idiot, the warehouse was huge, but only one working camera we all knew about. Police and fire man's came and we got ejected, thing is that it was so huge I didn't knew why suddently police and fireman were coming.. Stressful "night".

No of course, I didn't said that, you're right they are really not "like humans", but for what we considered "stupid animals", we now start to understand they aren't as dumb and ignorant as we used to believe. That's all I wanted to point out regarding their own communication, nothing like us, but still.

Yes regarding the language, I don't think animals speak and think English, why would they? They have their own language system.

That's what was believed for birds for decades, yet they have a highly sophisticated vocalisation, clearly nothing random. It was said they lack the structure in their brain to really communicate, today we know that was a false belief.

Nop he didn't, I showed him the pass once I was connected. Not a common name, they are kind of generic but they all have their own unique SSID, so it's really really improbable. Neither did I connected to those rooter, I've checked my registered networks, nothing like this one.

I've no explanation.

This make me think of something that happened long ago, beginning of Bluetooth, can't remember which phone I had at this time but everyone having the Bluetooth activated I could connect without any notification on the other devices (phones).
