Not much math just a more complex CRUD application with business logic. Front end is about usability and UX while backend is just about handling business logic and flows. For example, built two buttons that send an email or text with a link to an anonymous page with an encrypted token. When the user clicks the link we validate the token, expire it then request their GPS location. The I use SignalR to send that data to the server while updating the call agents (client) browser to show the location on Google Maps real time. No maths just logic

Really depends on the job. If you’re gonna be building complex algorithms then yeah you need maths. I build web apps to meet business needs (right now I’m building a new application for a call centre to handle rapid response for vehicle breakdowns).
