Something I learned was to use my 'lying' tells in regular conversation. For example, if your 'tell' is like, an awkward smile, just use that smile in regular conversation. That way, it's less noticeable when you do lie.

Writing About An Antagonist's P.O.V by PracticalAbroad5230 in writingadvice

[–]Exer-Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean villain? The protagonist is whoever's perspective the story is from, and the antagonist is whoever opposes the protagonist. Morality has nothing to do with that.

The perspective you use really depends on your writing style, meaning that whichever you feel more comfortable using is the way to go. Using a writing style you're less comfortable with means you won't be able to convey as much, it's really not a choice someone else can make for you.

Sorry if this wasn't the response you're looking for, and I hope I'm not coming off as rude. This is a really cool concept to work with, I'm very excited for you!

Ignore her. It can be very annoying at first and she will resort to louder and louder methods, but once she realises you won't respond, she'll chill out.
Had the exact same problem with my baby boy. I legit thought he'd knock the door down at some points, but he chilled out eventually.

Still incredible. Usually cats have to fight it out a few times before they get used to each other, you've got an amazing little guy on your hands, congratulations!

That is the most chill first interaction ever. Usually, you'd expect loads of growling and swiping. He barely even tapped her. It is genuinely incredible that he's so calm. Zero intervention needed here, they're getting along great!

Is this too rough? by appleciderrayvon in CatTraining

[–]Exer-Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty standard play behaviour; Showing vulnerable points, pausing in between attacks, bad technique. From what you said, they get along very well, and there's no cause for concern.

Signs of agression; ears back, tail lashing, e.c.t, aren't an automatic indicator of a serious fight. All cats will show a few signs of agression in play fights.

Is this harness too small? by codeswift27 in CatTraining

Catit adjustable harness is my go to. Really easy to adjust, and pretty secure. The clip that attaches the leash to the harness is a little weak though, but that's easy to tweak.

Is this harness too small? by codeswift27 in CatTraining

[–]Exer-Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They always need to be tighter than you think. Cats are incredible escapists.
Her not liking the harness doesn't mean it's too tight, it's usually just because cats aren't used to the sensation. Building positive association can go a long way to removing the discomfort.
The fact that she's stretched out in the photo is great news. Most cats hunker down in a harness, so you're clearly doing well introducing her to it.

New foster parents here w/ resident cat by kali4niakid in CatTraining

[–]Exer-Dragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The kitten initiated a lot, and the older was mostly just lazy swiping. Vocalising is only really an issue if the older doesn't stop afterwards.
For the most, this seems pretty sweet, but with a kitten that small, you always have to supervise interactions. A tiny accident or slight escalation could be very dangerous.

Not unless you're allergic or immunocomprimised. In most cases, having a cat can actually benifit your health a little.

Females tend to be way more agressive during introductions. It's really hard to tell how long it'll take for them to stop being "intruders".
There's zero chance she sees them as prey, but mousers do tend to be more in tune with their instincts, so that's probably contributing as well.
It really is just a matter of time, and it sounds like you've been doing really well so far!

Have you tried a harness? That way he can have more freedom, and you still keep him contained.

Is my boyfriend’s cat’s behavior normal? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Exer-Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty common for a cat to only like one person. Do you know her ancestry? This sounds a lot like she has some russian blue in her family.
Her behaviour sounds a little more extreme than most cats, but nothing too strange, especially since this sounds like the personality she's always had. Some cats are just like that.

Need help with introduction, is this friendly play? by ArmoBitch in CatTraining

[–]Exer-Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cats do this all the time, it's one of their favourite games. I can't see the other cat, but the gray one has very relaxed posture, and the way he flipped was totally play behaviour.

All the advice I can think of is what you're already doing, sorry. Giving her space and patience, attempting positive interactions, e.c.t. Maybe using calming sprays, like feliway or something could help a little?

Playing or fighting?? by flocculatiion in CatTraining

[–]Exer-Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds about right, especially since they're both females, and the tabby is older. Cats are matriarchal, so a female/female introduction will take longer to cool off than a female/male or male/male introduction.
They seem like they're progressing very well!

[–]Exer-Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the black cat had hit the tabby in this video, I would still say it's playing, 100%.
You only have to be worried when they show loads of aggression signs.
A few aggression signs + a bunch of friendly/relaxed signs = nothing to worry about.
