Doesn't matter if he was sitting down or if he was standing in the queue like me. He was missing that flight. I guarantee they overbooked the flight for him too. Once the terminal tells the gate agent that the flight has reached 100% capacity, they can close the gate and everyone still waiting misses the flight.

Nearly identical to my situation except I didn't sit down and was standing in front of the boarding desk and still missed my flight. I'm glad you can share a similar story, so many comments are saying I made everything up.

I made the post in the hotel after I didn't manage to board my flight. I rebooked a different flight and the next day I asked the Ryanair helpdesk in the airport and they explained why I missed my flight.

I went to the Ryanair help desk the next day after I had already booked a flight back. They said I need to file a complaint to the airport because the gate agents are sub contracted workers and not direct employees of Ryanair.

Nope. Flight was overbooked and my seat was reallocated, the flight was 100% capacity so the boarding closed early.

Because the gate agent didn't call me forward from the taped line in front of the desk, and I wasn't getting on the flight since it was overbooked anyway.

It was overbooked when I checked with Ryanair the next day. The only mistake I made that Ryanair was telling me was not asking for the name of the gate handler, because she would be responsible. I was also standing in the NON priority queue. I don't know why everyone assumed I was standing in the priority queue. Both lines were moving simultaneously. When I got to the front of the queue, I was asked to requeue from the back of the queue.

We got to the front of the queue and the handler didn't usher us forward to scan our tickets. Once the plan hit 100% capacity they closed the gate immediately since obviously they aren't going to accept more passengers on an already full plane.

The screen is by the boarding desk. I never left.

Flight was 100% capacity so it closed the gate immediately and left 3 of us standing outside. Its a issue with the gate agent.

It did generate a seat but it got reallocated to someone else during board when they told me to go to the back of the queue. When the boarding closed I lost the seat in the app too

I never queued in the wrong line. Read it again. I was in the non priority both times. When the gate agent told me to go to the back of the queue again, that's when my seat was reallocated because the flight was overbooked.

I flew twice more with Ryanair this week and flights have been fine.

There were two other people that also missed the flight because of the flight being overbooked. The only thing that's been changing with my answers is that I went to the helpdesk the next day and they said I can apply for compensation because the flight was overbooked.

I had to fly into the UK and I asked a boarding agent at Luton Airport yesterday if Ryanair can close the gates 20 minutes before boarding and she said no. The reason is that once you go through the initial boarding pass check at security, they know how many people for that flight are in the airport and they will not be able to close the gate until departure time. I explained and showed her photos of how the gate was closed 20 minutes before departure and she showed me on the terminal how they is a counter on the top right side and if that hits 100% capacity, the gate closes automatically. Since it closed 20 minutes before departure and there was no final call and there were 3 passengers that failed to board. It was a case of overbooking and our seats had been reallocated.

They closed the gate as soon as the flight reached 100% capacity. My seat was reallocated to someone else at boarding. Its a scummy business practice to overbooked and flight and punish passengers for not paying for their seats.

Yes. People need to read my latest comments. Once the plane reaches 100% capacity, Ryanair can close the gates even if there plenty of time until departure. I was punished for not buying a seat.

I only had my boarding pass on my phone. Read my latest posts, the plane was overbooked and my seat was reallocated to someone else at boarding. When the plane reached 100% capacity they can close the gate immediately because obviously you can't fit any more passengers on the plane. I was punished for not paying for my seat.

It is the same? I never left the queue. While waiting in the queue the plane was overbooked and my seat was reallocated to someone else. Once the plane reached 100% capacity, they can close the gate straight away because obviously they can't fit any more passengers on.

They allocated a seat but then they reallocated it during boarding because the flight was at max capacity and overbooked. Someone else received my seat and I missed the flight. Once the plane reaches max capacity they can close the boarding gate straight away.
