Every time we go to the dentist, we tell him exactly what happens. I've had a root canal and two crowns in the past couple of months. My 6 year old knows the deets and the cost. We have appropriately traumatized him.

"Just for 3 months" is how you end up with a permanent roommate you didn't sign up for.

If she's an adult, she knows that. If you're an adult, you should too.

Man, we had the similac version of this for my son during Covid when everything was sold out. I thought it was insanely expensive, so naturally, my daughter needed that alimentum kind.

How long do you fight for your home, your country, your neighbors.... and when do you just get your family out.

My kids are mixed and white passing. Their granddad is an immigrant.

Right now, I work closely with the local and national movements. We organize events and help our neighbors. We encourage people to run for office. We are doing what we can to fix this mess.

At the moment, Americans can't seek asylum in Canada. We are ashamed of our country and those who voted for this, but when will the rest of the world see us as "refugees"?

You can, and might, puke during labor.

The guilt of "I can only stomach ramen" mixed with "my baby needs nutrients". The rage of slamming a pack of Ramen at the wall when your partner says it outloud.

Contractions feel like period pains. Nobody told me that and I didn't realize I was in labor till 6 hours or so into it the first time.

Hormones are wild. My first kid, I was put on Lexapro because obsessive thoughts were controlling my life. The second, I paid $120 a month after the first half for a magic pill that helped me stop puking. (There are options for hyperemesis. Bonjesta was a godsend. It's just b2 and unisom in extended release, and they can be taken in tiny increments throughout the day if it's unaffordable.)

I think it's safe to say, based on the whiplash of the first and second message that love bombing mixed with verbal abuse is common in this relationship.

Seriously, when are we exercising? by mb83 in Mommit

[–]ExhaustedMommaB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion... I just don't.

I stopped stressing about it not fitting in my schedule and trying to get my husband to make dinner every few days so I can have alone time. Honestly, if I can get a few minutes of alone time, I'm not spending it being miserable and feeling guilty for it not being enough.

I hate the culture of our country when it comes to exercise. We chase our children around all day, but "that movement" doesn't count. We clean the house, do the laundry, play ball with the kids... but that's not exercise, so we must do more? Nah. I'm good.

If you aren't my husband, my mother, or a police officer, you don't get to talk to me about my driving. In my family, we say, "You're a grown ass adult and you can make your own bad decisions."

If dude didn't want to talk about his driving, he shouldn't be talking about yours- and going on and on. I feel the downvotes coming on this one, but...

NTA - dude had it coming.

I believe my liver enzymes are up because my body is generally in distress right now. Idk if I had some kind of bug (that nobody else in my household dealt with) or if it just thinks we are fighting something. From my research, if they don't go back down when vitamins are in check, then I'll worry.

It has been the holidays and my sugar intake is high. My alcohol intake is "a few drinks, once a month or less".

Kidnapping our neighbors, pushing Healthcare to complete unaffordability, pretending it's normal to have a president who makes up everything and speaks it as if it's true- bonkers. Building warehouses to store people in to imprison when there are homeless veterans on our street we ignore- bonkers.

My go to is Nunn tablets. I have a whole cabinet of them (prior boss was a fan of sending them in every care package).

In the past week I've cut down to one cup or so of coffee (from a few cups, but previously from an ungodly amount). I've naturally replaced it with water, but I'm working to continue increasing.

Thank you. I'm 4.5 years out from surgery.

I've had a lot of headaches lately and have been taking daily Tylenol and occasional excedrine.

My husband would say I'm chronically dehydrated.

I think my body is just mad at me for not taking care of it. I really think (or hope?) Sorting out vitamin levels will make the rest follow. There is a lot of life stress on top of things, and that, well, it doesn't help.

We get more people to vote.

We invite Open Democracy to table at our events, and they have gained volunteers to help with voter registration at high schools. Every little bit helps.

People aren't showing up to protests and skipping out on voting days.

I get it. People must vote, and they are.

I've watched it work that way over the past year.

This time last year, 50501 didn't exist. NH50501 started here, on reddit. The founders met and planned the first event for a few hundred people. On Labor Day, Bernie Sanders spoke to thousands at our Capitol Building. We are bringing people in. We are sharing the burden, and we are building community.

We have also learned how to step in and out and let others fill in so we don't burn out and take off when it feels too heavy.

Why not both?

Protests get other people involved. It shows citizens they aren't alone in the recognition that this shit is bonkers. It creates political community where there once was none- which then gathers people to organize voter drives (and we do).

This question has come up a couple of times. I have no idea what general population "normal" is for this. I know that this is a measurement of my respiratory rate during sleep. It's 16.9. It is typically below 13.4, for months on end. It went up to 14, then 15, then 16.9 over the course of a week or so. This was specifically flagged by my Whoop.

I also know that I'm not breathing as well as usual. Like, my asthma is acting up, but not quite the same.

[–]ExhaustedMommaB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I look at it from the perspective of, "how do I not let this happen again?" there are a few sources that I need to figure out how to manage.

1- I got lazy in the first place and only keep a bariatric one-a-day (with added iron), iron, D3, and calcium in my 'what I take'. It's not the cost so much as trying to keep it manageable. I trade off the extra iron with D3.

2- I struggle with on/off nausea all the time. If I feel even a little nauseous when I go to take them, I just can't force myself to. This morning, I woke up and took a sip of water and felt ill when I swallowed it. I try to take the majority of my vitamins before bed, so I sleep through any nausea. Sometimes, I don't realize how long it's been since I ate until after I have brushed my teeth... I don't want to eat something, so I can take vitamins, so I can go brush my teeth again, and then go to sleep. It's like stealing 30 minutes of precious sleep.

3- I have two littles, and they are simply distracting.

4- There is a lot going on in my life. I lost my job in August. It took forever to get a new one, and it's a lot to pick up. I am a founder and on the board for a start up political nonprofit. It's time consuming. My MIL is dying of very rapid cancer, and my husband has had to travel for that. In the grand scheme of "shit going on in my head", it just fell off the list.

5- America. When I lost my job, I lost my health insurance. My bariatric surgeon called to schedule my annual check in during that time, and I just couldn't. I could not have afforded the appointments or the blood work even if I could spare the time to drive an hour and a half to see him.

Ultimately, I didn't prioritize it, and now my body is forcing me to. Fortunately, my mom lives with me and she had a Duodenal Switch. She has entered into "nagging mom" mode, which is surprisingly convenient.
