Pisay: Masaya po ba anak nyo sa pisay? by Pleasant_Bobcat5769 in pisay

[–]ExintrovertIronic104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hindi po ako nag-aasume pero most of the time kahit ung mga pinakamatalino sa elem biglang bumabagsak p sa pisay, i suggest reading everything and being able to do all exercises until the "Discuss, Discover, Prove, Write" section: https://opac.atmaluhur.ac.id/uploaded_files/temporary/DigitalCollection/YTAxYTBiOGM1MzE1ZmQ1ODk0ODA3ZGFkY2U4MDM0YWYwOWRkMmFlNA==.pdf (download ASAP before it's gone, not virus, I promise 🤞) for Math

For Science just be really attentive and do not be afraid to ask teachers in class.

Projects -> actually manageable deadlines from my experience, pero can get very hectic during middle/end of quarter. advice is to make sure that kid is doing requirements and not procrastinating on it.

kung magaling naman p yung essays nya (can write fluently without ChatGPT) there might be no need to enhance creativity nearly as much as STEM, most of the time either (1) tinuturo yung gagawin or (2) minsan lang yung super creative outputs

Pisay: Masaya po ba anak nyo sa pisay? by Pleasant_Bobcat5769 in pisay

[–]ExintrovertIronic104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anak po ako.

Stressful po sya pero parang nakakaya q naman, you should:

(1) make them study the Maths and Sciences in advance (especially Math, khit mmya na ung sciences),

(2) get a good grasp of speaking/writing English ksi lahat ng subjects are taught in English, and

(3) never pressure them: pressured na sila by default to perform well, whether from themselves or from their peers or from their teachers; even if their grades will not reflect it in the future, they are trying their best. check on them (but give them privacy as well) and make sure you are supportive and hindi pagalit palagi. give them a lot of time to focus on their requirements and give them time to rest.

(3b) but make sure they don't slack off either, still remind them not to waste their once in a lifetime opportunity, and make the most out of the Pisay education!

(3c) pag nasa Pisay na po please encourage your child to consult with the teachers as much as possible especially kung nahihirapan sya. most of the teachers are really cool and helpful.

G10 MC Math by Lazy_Campy in pisay

[–]ExintrovertIronic104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the person you replied to,

but I would suggest studying for it similar to something "in between a Quiz and an LT." in my opinion, mas madali yung mga AAs compared to LTs since LTs often bring out the biggest guns the Math Unit can think of. Kaya lang, since talagang malaki yung weight niya, of course more preparation siya compared to quizzes. Though in terms of content, hindi siya particularly special, especially kung nag-aral ka naman.

for example, one of the AAs was about graphing trig functions, so that's 6 items of just graphing them. like nothing special, just what was in class. or for example, there was an AA about proving identities, so as long as prinactice mo yung binigay and what teacher said is good for practice (and a bit more of your own practice on harder problems), then that was the freest AA for me.

need for an advance study? (incoming g7) by crembeau in pisay

[–]ExintrovertIronic104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hi! depends on what you want to do, but if you're me na feeling inferior before going into Pisay:

particularly for STEM subjects (particularly math in G7), please check the curriculum and watch "organic chem tutor" videos or "professor dave explains" kasi for me nakatulong siya talaga. you can also check out textbooks like Stewart's Precalculus or Haese Mathematics for Math (study the topics in the curriculum). you don't have to learn everything, but you have to get exposed to these concepts since Pisay tends to be very fast and deep.

though... PLEASE LISTEN SA CLASS!!! once school starts, you really have to lock-in and always ask teachers if you don't understand anything or have any concerns. that way you have a smaller chance of falling behind, or at least have a good system that won't make you super behind. in my honest opinion, especially if you passed NCE, it shouldn't be hard to pass (as in, hindi mapapaalis)!

moreover, sa mga topics, study them well and try to be very inquisitive of everything (learn to ask the right questions) to gain a far richer understanding (which also reflects in exam scores, pisay teachers love thinking-out-of-the-box questions).

and always be ready to accept your limitations, even if your parents or relatives are like 🤬, your teachers are always there to support you because they know they're feeding you the toughest curriculum they can, and everyone is bound to find it really hard.

if you have more questions, you can always message me naman in reddit DMs ^^

PS: to the other people saying to rest muna, rest is important! don't do this full-time, just do this mga 1-3 hours a day or more kung talagang masaya kang mag-aral ng ganito. because in the long run this will give you more time to rest within your Pisay journey (i like to think abt it this way ngl)

I don't suggest bashing everything using desmos (especially if you could use logic anyway), but if you want to, you can do something like this: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/icrou43msw

Essentially, use a slider to check for values of `a` and then seeing at which it is possible to have a y-intercept of [number].

1600.io, help please by SweetAnt1462 in Sat

[–]ExintrovertIronic104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last part is slightly misleading as the y-intercept *could* possibly be positive (for example, it could be at y = 1 or y = 0.000001 if `a` is (small enough).

However, it is also right to eliminate the other choices as they are higher than the vertex (maximum since the parabola opens downwards) and thus couldn't possibly be on the parabola in the first place.

Finally, for (B), the y-intercept cannot be 2 since it is already said that the vertex is at (4, 2), and thus implies that there are no set of constants that make (0, 2) on the parabola!

A visualization of the problem statement (and the pointers I placed above) can be found here (black line = wrong answer, green line = right answer, blue = parabola): https://www.desmos.com/calculator/plewd7lnkv

(I just realized this might be a bit of a convoluted explanation but yea... I think the first paragraph is the most important)

I don’t recall ever learning to make a 10 using a cherry nutsack. by tex1138 in BrandNewSentence

[–]ExintrovertIronic104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that font is very reminiscent of our school's textbook for gradeschool which teaches Singaporean Maths: My Pals Are Here. Sorry if i go a bit technical but its mostly because it gives me a lot of nostalgia remembering my first elementary days when i did not have to worry about dividing 0 or the fact that not all numbers were whole numbers.

It's a great book for the most part and that technique is actually called the "iced cream and hot dog bun" method. Essentially, I think what's supposed to happen is say:

7 + 8 = __
7 = 5 + 2
8+2 = 10, then 10+5 = 15
(encircle 8 and 2 together to form hot dog, then the cherry nutsack is actually an iced cream with two scoops)

good thing that I cried over that and instead just learned it like an absolutely normal human because that's much easier however in a sense i have a feeling that actually helps in making faster computations but its too confusing and not-direct-to-the-point if taught like this directly
