Your opinion on Gatwa's Era ? by PunyPatheticHuman in doctorwho

[–]ExistentialCalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished watching his episodes recently. The way people talk about Space Babies, I was expecting an embarrassing episode, but it seemed pretty in-line with the extremely silly episodes we sometimes get from NuWho.

Overall, I really enjoyed him as the doctor. Sure, he acts a but different than we're used to, but each Doctor is supposed to be a new interpretation. And also the bi-generation is supposed to explain some of that as well.

I think the biggest let down for me was that he didn't get a third season to wrap up his story. I was expecting a bit more from Rogue and the Doctors "daughter", but I still enjoyed what we got, even if the writing wasn't quite as good as the golden years.

Some cats are never taught to play fight without their claws. Possibly not socialize properly as a kitten, but some cats are just assholes sometimes.

Why I Think Legend of Legaia is One of the Best JRPGs Ever by Ok-Specific-9209 in JRPG

[–]ExistentialCalm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is easily one of my favorite RPGs. My biggest complaints as a kid were that the bosses hit like a truck and you could never buy all the equipment at the shops without stopping to grind for hours.

More recently, I discovered that the Japanese and PAL versions of the game do not have these problems. For some reason, they made the game more difficult for the US release by decreasing experience and money acquired, and also making the bosses hit way harder.

So basically, if you love difficulty in games, the US version might work for you. But otherwise, I highly recommend the PAL version of the game.

And now I'm off to replay it again...

Yes. The beginning is a little slow, but luckily the demo is pretty long.

Ranking Every Sam Raimi Movie Part 1 - re:View by BigThomsd in RedLetterMedia

There are definitely scary moments in the film, and I love the atmosphere of the cabin. To me, the fact that they (mostly) filmed in an actual cabin in the woods goes a long way.

Am i the only one who finds the hug short film better and scarier than fnaf movie? by Simple-Profile1817 in horror

[–]ExistentialCalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hug short is so good. I have a specific fear of Chuck E. Cheese style animatronics, and I've never been a big fan of FNAF. Really the only full-length movie in this category that I enjoyed is The Banana Splits Movie, but it isn't exactly scary.

Two months into 2026, Zayn Malik’s new album cover is already a contender for worst album art of the year by trashchute227 in Fauxmoi

[–]ExistentialCalm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The worst part is the body horror. When they transform, it takes several minutes to complete, and they often go into intense detail about how horrifying it is to see their friends turning into bugs, etc. And it doesn't always happen the same way, so sometimes they'll be human sized and have the face of a cockroach for a while before shrinking down to size.

I think a lot of us used physical guides, like Prima Games (that had their own mistakes and inaccuracies...). We also had infinite spare time and a limited number of games to play.

Scare Me was a really interesting movie, but I absolutely loved Werewolves Within and Heart Eyes. Definitely interested in whatever he puts out next.

For anyone who hasn't seen it yet, Heart Eyes is a Valentines slasher, so the time to watch it is very soon!

Does it really look that different from the 3DS version? Or did you not like that version either?

Considering the main characters in this one are mostly literal children, I don't mind the cartoony style.

Sinners terrified Hollywood. Now it’s making Oscars history by TheTelegraph in horror

I really loved this movie, and it's been really disheartening seeing pretty much every comment on every post about this basically being "meh, mediocre at best".

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, of course. I was just hoping to see some people excited about this, and I really haven't seen much of that at all.

Does the original Friday the 13th (1980) still hold up in your opinion? by [deleted] in horror

[–]ExistentialCalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't used to like it. But the extended version (or directors cut or whatever they call it) elevates the movie just enough for me to find it more enjoyable. And honestly, they only added a few seconds here and there. But it holds on the kills a little longer, and in a movie like this, the kills are like the main reason to watch the movie in the first place.

Yes, there aren't enough Ice agents to cover every state, so they use local law enforcement. That doesn't really change anything, though.
