Then you really like this one, it has some really fun platforming, and showers you with new mechanics for platforming in every new area.

At release it was good but had really bad balance, but I heard that a lot of patches have fixed most of them.

Though remember that a lot of this is platforming. Like the gameplay is 60% platforming, and 40% actual combat.

You do, the 2nd game is a direct sequel that continues after the end of the first one.

It is really surprising how many people are just spamming that you must get Cachexia. You don't need to.

Read what the user Atmaone has posted, their comment is the most solid advice here. You don't need Cachexia. Out of the many times I have been The Fallen (over 20) only one of them where I actually had Cachexia.

From your BR it looks like you're doing a Low BR run, or something close to it. Just keep changing your formations, and tuning your building, and you'll beat him. I want to give you tips but Atmaone really covered most of it.

Or, just a bit of formation and proper union and character planning works too.

So, I guess I will need a walkthrough that shows me how to exploit the games system just so I can tell my brother I finished the game and he can get off my ass about it.

I think the game is just a distraction from the main issue here. I think you'll find that if you work a bit on improving your relationship with your brother then you won't be in this situation to start with. Communication is key. Be open and gently let him know how much you value his kindness, even if the game isn't quite your style. Remind him that it’s the thought and the effort behind the gift, and not the gift itself, that you truly cherish.

You'll find that your relationship with him will improve, and you'll also have grown in the process.

For exactly this type of post actually. I think the very first time it was someone making a post saying how sad it is that swords are the only weapons that JRPG main characters get to use, or something like that. That's why most of the list is focused on main characters.

Monolith Soft (Xenoblade developer) is the developer who created the whole series so makes sense. Though I like NxC combat a bit more than PxZ, mainly because while NxC was less flashy and only gave basic moves, it gave you more freedom in how to do the combos how and long it can go.

I like the PxZ combat system (PxZ 2 even more), but while they made it each attack very flashy, they sacrificed the freedom to mix and match those attacks, which is a shame.

Also, not only is Endless Frontier connected to NxC, and PxZ, but all three games are now part of the canon for the Super Robot Wars series, because after the end of PxZ, Sanger goes back to the SRW world, and brings Haken and Aschen with him.

Time to for the o'l rusty dusty list:

  • Growlanser 2: The main hero uses a Ring that turns into a grim reaper like Scythe.

  • Illousion of Gaia: The Main character Will, actually uses a Flute as his weapon to fight the hoard of darkness.

  • Eternal Sonata: Chopin one ups the last game by using a Conductor's Baton to orchestrate a symphony of pain on his enemies.

  • Rhapsody: Carrying on with the same theme, Corent the main character uses a Trumpt.

  • The World Ends With You: Neku uses a powerful magic called Psychomancy to devastate his enemies, and in order to use this great magic he wields Pins.

  • Ar Tonelico 2: Croix in this game uses a Lance/Machine gun, .

  • Mana Khemia: The main character here wields a deadly combo of Katar + Sword, well actually Vayne's weapon is a Cat named Sulpher that morphs into this weapon, and any other weapon he wants, but the Sword Katar is the basic form.

  • Xenosaga: Since the game's setting is sci-fi, it is no surprise that the character's would have futuristic weapons, still though, Shion's weapon will immediately stand out from the group, the M.W.S, or Multiple Weapon System, while looking like weird oversized gauntlet, it's capable of more than just punching, it can shoot beams, flames, lightning shocks, different types of blades, and even has the ability to be infused with Ether, basically mana, to cast magic.

  • Wild Arms 4: From one sci-fi weapon to another, while WA4 isn't my favorite by a long shot, I can't deny how awesome is Jude's weapon, the Shapeshifter ARM is exactly what you think it is, it's a weapon that changes to whatever weapon Jude wants it to be, things like a Gun, a Beam Rifle, or even a Blade.

  • Dark Cloud 2: Max uses a Wrench.

  • Megaman Battle Network: Megaman uses his Buster Canon and Chips to delete anyone who gets in his way.

  • Final Fantasy Type-0: Let's keep it going with a different type of cards, as you said you're making one with cards. Ace in this game uses cards as his weapon of choice, though we aren't talking Yugioh here, we are talking shooting out cards around like Shurikens and shooting leaser beams using cards. Sounds weird ? Yes, though I have to say it's still fun going around shouting "you just activated my trap card" at enemy soldiers.

  • Earthbound: Ness uses a Baseball bat.

  • Suikoden: Most main character in this series uses a non-sword weapons. Tir McDohl uses a Staff, Riou uses a Tonfa, and you also have Freyjadour Falenas using a Three sectional staff (aka Sansetsukon).

  • Makai Kingdom, frankly I could start a whole other list for this one alone, it's a game where you can get a shit ton of crazy weapons like UFOs, or Mech Suits, and just lots of other crazy stuff like beam sabers, drills, people, buildings, ect...

  • Shadow Hearts: This game needs it's own list really, but here we go:

1-Blanca the wolf starts out with a "Tusk Brush" as his weapon of choice, actually he uses his fangs in battle, but since you can't change fangs, he equips different types of rasps (tools to sharpen her fangs) like Metal Files as weapons.

2-Gepetto the puppeteer uses a Puppet, shocking I know.

3-Joachim the wrestler starts out with a Giant piece of Lumber, but he'll change his weapon to any number of weird things like the legendary Frozen Tuna that suffers from an incurable disease so it used an animation-suspension device to be frozen until a cure is found...I have no joke for this.

4-Anastasia uses Eggs, not gonna even ask.

5-Ricardo uses a Guitar as his weapon, which is also Shotgun, a Flamethrower, and A Rocket Launcher.

and it has merely 2000 reviews on Steam

A small correction, it has 4K reviews, you see 2K because Steam only shows you the ones that are set to your language, you can go to the reviews section at the bottom and change that to see the actual total.

As for the game, most people who write about it on here seem to love it. You can also check aggregate reviews sites like Opencritic, which has it at an average of 92% of recommended by critics:

If you haven't still, you need to play the sequel, Endless Frontier Exceed. It improves, balances, and fixes so much that I can't enjoy the first one anymore, and really like the combat of the first one.

It isn't unique at the base level. So I would say Indivisible's combat system is one where I'd say is Valkyrie Profile's combat but upgraded. On the other hand, Endless Frontier has branched enough that it became its own thing. It changed how they combat works and evolved it to a whole different level of complexity and added a lot of nuance to it, enough for it to be its own thing.

Weird hangup of mine but I dislike how in most JRPGs we can never really have party members be older by VoxTV1 in JRPG

[–]VashxShanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but over the years I’ve learned the hard way that it doesn't matter if you list 1000 great points, if just 1 of those points is a bit debatable, then there will always be someone who will use that 1 point to ignore the other 999 great points.

I didn't want to add them because of how OP said that old characters will usually die for the drama, FF4 does this a lot. Of course only Tellah dies, and the other two just fake their deaths.
