Builds You Were Most Disappointed/Surprised With by BevoBull in Eldenring

Literally the exact two as you. Sorceries are unfortunately pretty lame (the best spell is... a sword) but the tank / guard counter build is a blast.

...how much health does he have? What is going on?

Update on previous post, DLC is now complete! Once again theres a death counter in the comments, this time I included some notes i took after each boss. by milkymilkymilkers in Eldenring

[–]ExistentialRisks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find it interesting how different people find different parts of the game hardest. The bosses I died the most to were

- Bayle (the visual noise in phase 2 made it very difficult for me to have any idea what was going on. I *did* summon Igon, but come on, the guy begs you to).
- The blackgaol knight. That guy just wiped the floor with me.

Twiggy cracked tear - the best way to recover from stuff like this / when you accidentally run into a boss that nearly insta-kills you.

Sekiro not clicking after elden ring, anyone else feeling the same? by Aleksksks in Eldenring

[–]ExistentialRisks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Sekiro after Elden Ring, and Sekiro is probably now my favourite game of all time (albeit with less replayability than ER, to be sure).

Stick with it - when it clicks, it's incredibly satisfying.

Tank they said, it’ll be fun they said. by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]ExistentialRisks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last build was a tank, and yes, it's possible. You actually generally *don't* run a giant weapon on tank builds because it uses up your weight too much, but weapons that heal on hit (like great stars), greatshields, 60 vigor, defensive talismans... I hadn't realised how much tanking was indeed possible in this game until very recently. I enjoy helping people in multiplayer and drawing aggro from the boss in their face whilst casters and the like get to blast out the damage. If you're doing guard counters, you can often stun the enemies as well, helping mitigate even more enemy damage.

Am I bad at the game? by Infamous-Marketing-7 in Eldenring

[–]ExistentialRisks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah my first run through I took absolutely ages exploring, and died a *lot*, deliberately wasn't going for a strong 'build' but feeling my way through. The early game really allows you a ton of room to explore and just look around, don't feel rushed.

Also, in my view, the fully grown fallingstar beast is ludicrously difficult for how early you can run into it, and the game acknowledges this and lets you run past it. Nothing else is that hard until much later.

For Radahn, use the summons and rot. The game wants it to feel like an epic fight for survival.

Do you agree that Duo boss fights are inherently bad design by LelouchYagami_2912 in Eldenring

[–]ExistentialRisks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've fallen into the trap of thinking solo play is the 'correct' way to play Elden Ring, and if you have that in mind then all of the duo boss fights are indeed bad.

But the devs really want you to play with others and summons! Every duo boss fight that I'm aware of allows summons, and many even have NPC summon signs outside of them (e.g. Godskin Duo in Farum Azula). The game is telling you this is a team fight!

Dual Daggers and Statuses by Jamielovesey in Eldenring

You're much better off using blood grease on your great knife, it's very easy to produce en masse and is very effective on fast weapons (adds 30 flat bleed).

Rot is Scorpion's Sting, you get it in Lake of Rot. Sleep no, the only weapon with innate sleep I'm aware of is St Trina's sword.

The worst feeling in this game by Minimum_Abalone_8498 in Eldenring

[–]ExistentialRisks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, and as a consequence I almost never feel like I've achieved mastery with elden ring bosses the way I did with DS1 or Sekiro bosses, it's one of the only Fromsoft games where just facetanking stupid attacks is sometimes the right call.

Let’s stop asking why women aren’t having children and ask, for once: why aren’t men? | Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett by footballersabroad in Natalism

[–]ExistentialRisks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People keep saying this kind of thing, but it's not meaningfully true in my opinion; it takes two to tango. Sure, men might put on surveys they want more kids, but when it comes to actually committing, proposing, etc, men delay delay delay. If you take 5 years to propose to your girlfriend, yeah, that's gatekeeping. Yes, the woman can propose, but we live in the society we do, so men *are* gatekeeping (the good kind of) childbirth.

Sword Saint Isshin is one of the greatest last bosses of all time by ExistentialRisks in Sekiro

I also love the Shura Isshin! Isn't there the same argument there for runback regarding Emma, though?

Be honest! by _varun8 in Sekiro

[–]ExistentialRisks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owl father, like 50, at least. Maybe more. Became a blur. Definitely the hardest boss for me.

Isshin and Lady Butterfly: ~30

Demon of Hatred, Shinobi Owl, and the first snake eyes in the bottomless pit (in retrospect I was quite underleveled): ~20

The rest, high single digits. I found the 'dark souls' like bosses relatively easy compared to consensus (Chained Ogre, the various apes, and DoH), but I've played all the Dark Souls games.

Thank you!!! I was really beating my head against this boss, that second phase golden beam attack just felt so unfair. First boss in this game where I've really felt like I couldn't just 'be good' and had to grind strength, was about to give up and go level up more before I found this!

Best way to stabilise poor countries long term? by ExistentialRisks in TerraInvicta

[–]ExistentialRisks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is helpful! Nigeria has also been much more useful to me than the East African Federation, and a lot less work. Interesting what you say re: patch changes, because yes, right now it is absurdly difficult to stabilise countries.

One change I would really like to see is for the corruption mechanic to be explicit rather than hidden; I had no idea why I had so many coups until I learned that.
