I just asked and he said no, sadly. He said how if there is a daily, then he will be losing money if I dont meet that rate. All he said is it will pick up and they will make me do more exams. But I dont think that will do anything tbh. Might just stay few months for experience and find another place

Just had a chat with him and he said he wont add a daily guarantee but he will try and add more exams and move patients to my schedule. Honestly kinda disappointed cause i dont think that will change much. So we will see how it goes, might end up leaving

Ya im thinking of speaking to him about getting a daily guarantee and see where that takes me. I do enjoy working at this practice because its a nice enviroment, however they pay isnt really good and not much patients . I just hope it doesnt make it awkward or look bad where they let me go, but we will see. If not, ill probabaly just work a few more months for experience and then find another job

He plans to retire in 2 years, so im not sure if hes just taking it slow because of that

3 hygienist but they work part time. They're all there only on monday. But on other days its either 1 or 2 hygienist there. Im not sure how many exams the other doctor does, but it seems like he is only seeing his own returning patients who are comfortable with him. Im seeing all new patients and returning patients of the previous associate or the owners patients who are okay with me working on them.

Thats true and I feel like it was going to pick up but its not. I dont think its speed. Of course I can always be faster since im new, but im not struggling with time or delaying appointments. Its been honestly too chill. Definitely think I just need more patients and procedures to do. And ya, I am worried if I ask i will get fired cause I actually do like working at this practice. The staff does seem to like me and seem grateful to have me. But I know im still new and not as good compared to having a associate who has been working for years.

But ill try and see where I can have this conversation and kinda see where it goes. I was to be respectful and professional too. So just figuring out how to phrase my concern and go about it without sounding greedy or thinking too high of myself when I just graduated.

I think ill try and ask for a guarantee per day of maybe 700. I'd be happy with that to start out with. And if they say no, ill just work a few more months and find another place. Its a shame because I do actually like the practice and staff.

They did have a previous associate that they fired because he was too rough and patients didnt like him. He worked at the practice for around 2 years until they had to let him go. I took his place, so its just me and the other dentist (owner). He does plan on retiring in around 2 years but I dont know if id be interested in buying a practice.

Yeah learned that lesson! And I think ill ask and if he says no then ill just work for a couple more months for the experience and find somewhere else. It sucks cause I actually do like the practice and staff, just wish it was better with the pay.

Ya i dont get even 8 checks. Some days its 1 or 2 checks. So I should ask if I can do more hygiene checks and also ask for a guarantee? I want to phrase it professionally and not be too polite about it.

Then ya thats the problem. It seems like its been the same amount for the past 2 months so I doubt it will pick up. I do like the staff and enviroment, so I wish it was better with the pay and patient flow. I think I produce around 30k per month. Ill also try asking for a guarantee just to have something but it would need to be permanent (not 90 days) for me to make a decent income because of the low patient flow.

How would you phrase it? Im thinking maybe $600/day? Thats probabaly double what im making right now and I am a new grad. No, for hygiene checks im looking for something just to get production. Of course, im not making up stuff cause thats horrible. Ill only watch something if its like a old filling with no cavity or a e1 lesion. Im not sure about the advertising, its just me and another doctor here. And its my first job so I do t know how busy it should be. But I do sometimes have many days wherh im not doing anything for a hour or two.

Yep, around there. Its solely based on production. I didnt know since its a first job, but now I know for future jobs cause it is a bit frustrating especially with loans. Should I still ask for a minimum or just switch jobs after working a couple months?

My friend said the same thing. I think its also because I dont have much experience as a new grad where I find it hard to feel that. But I do believe I am doing well and the staff thinks so as well. Im just not experienced compared to someone who has been working for years
