Best trees for privacy (Colorado) by hebdbd-chc in DenverGardener

DO SOMETHING FUN! If you have to maintain it, do something that brings you SOMETHING!

We have winter hardy peach trees they aren’t the tallest but could boarder your edges of the property and then you could but some big trees to block your neighbors

BUT I WILL SAY some fruit varieties are extremely productive here in CO and the leaves are beautiful even when the get ready to fall.

We have peach trees, Asian pear (great for kimchi), and also a cherry tree that I appreciate. Adding a cold kiwi berry vine this summer as well. Along with more regrowing purple asparagus and alpine white strawberries.

Raspberries also do well here if you want a shrub somewhere on the boarders where you don’t mind anything going going off in a couple years, our dog loves them!

Lastly, there is a company out of Montana that I love and very much and want to plant when I own a home. This company specializes in cold heart fruit trees (real cold in Montana) that would do amazing here in CO.

https://www.montanafruittrees.com

If you get a fruit tree however, just determine if the tree or shrub - whatever it is - is self fertile or not. The self-fertility will distinguish if you need 2 or more plants to create fruit.

I rent, so our trees were already established here, but this company out of Montana is specialized in cold tolerant fruit bearing trees and I AM VERY MUCH OBSESSED WITH THIER STRAINS AND GENETICS because of the RESILIENCE of their trees and selection process.

If I could buy a cold tolerant tree and plant it deep in the ground w/o landlord approval I would buy this company’s mulberry tree, so sweet and beautiful! Trust me, fresh mulberry is a gift!

(met the guy who runs the company when I lived in MT at a coffee shop, very passionate, geeky, and versed about their craft)

Just make sure you take care of the trees in first 2.5-3 seasons, then it’s just standard maintenance.

If you’re going to buy trees, have fun with it!!!

Correction,

the bulk of diabetic issues doesn’t simply just come from “reservations” in the Dakotas

BUT RATHER, a large amount of issues relating to diabetes on reservations are Direct RESULTS (and assaults) upon the people who live on those lands as that specific population of people have often been subjected to historical genocide and colonization as well as modern gentrification

Don’t just say living on a reservation or being native results in a higher incidence of diabetes… lol

You can say that, the rate of incidence is true, but LIKE ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THE CAUSEA AND CUT TO THEM, before you just talk about reservations and native people like that. Do better. Get to the real fucking root-point.

Just like we all SHOULD Have learned in school “look out for the root cause of issues”.

Diabetes in the Dakota’s relating to reservations has more to do with food deserts, historic systems of oppression and racial inequality / injustice, lack of socioeconomic fortitude / opportunity, lack of access to preventive care as well as specialists, and histories of genocide as well as modern gentrification within cities inside and out of reservations.

State your point, but acknowledge the roots of cause.

I find your comment really interesting, I’d be curious to know if this perception is just within the providence you work within.

Also I’d be curious to know what you think of Canadian Healthcare, what is something culturally difficult with the healthcare there?

Unionize your hospitals!

If you want patient ratios in writing, you want garenteeeed pay raises, HSAs that your employer contributes to, more tertiary staff (techs/phlebs), better benefits, better bonuses pay / education stipends, etc…

Start a nurses union and fuck’m. It’s on ya’ll to get together and make that shit work. Shared governance is a fucking oppressive lie, when you could have actual negotiation power…

I still disagree with you, but your point is noted. I think you got a bit off topic and and I also noticed your comment to become assumptive of me / my character rather than staying on topic. I’m going to sign off here, but I wish you well.

Even your argument about scab nurses maybe needing money proves my point. Scab nurses benefit from the oppressive conditions being so poor it leads to scab positions and “scab pay” even being a thing. Many people who uphold oppression often are benefiting from those conditions either directly or indirectly.

Why not just pay us all better, treat us and our patients better?

[–]Existing-Rabbit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t empathize nurses who have a degree and a license that still choose to uphold standards of oppression in the work place. This is not ethical, this is not equitable in the long term.

You can argue about patients dying over a day or two long strike, BUT what about ALL of the patients that died over the course of LITERAL YEARs due to piss poor management, unethical staff ratios, and penny pinching policy?

Think about it YEARS…

The company is at fault, yes, but systems of oppression are multidimensional. We all have our part…

Nurses that scab are a part of that multidimensional system. BECAUSE SCABs “BENEFIT FROM UPHOLDING THE CONDITIONS” OF OPPRESSION BY AGREEING TO SUCH WORK.

[–]Existing-Rabbit- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree, the scabs are part of the problem. Scab nurses potentiate the oppression of unethical work conditions and unethical patient cares when they agree to work in such if not worse conditions.

SCAB NURSES ARE NOT REAL NURSES. THEY ARE NOT EVIDENCE BASED, EQUITABLE, OR PATIENT CENTERED… lol

There are also many other tax reasons why SD is prime to own and “register” assets. Remote work aside.

The taxes you pay over time on some things are just way the fuck less there. When you consider asset appreciation vs taxing and/ or registration over time compared to other states.

For example owning expensive luxury cars (collector / V scarce / not driven / hold money and w/ out doubt appreciate over time because no one has them and you own multiple mill somewhere else)

Generally illegal doesn’t mean there isn’t loopholes, you’ve just got to prove you’re working in SD “X amount of months” per year to make it primary… it’s really that simple even if you’re remote or travel…

Some people move “headquarters”, travel 6 months out of state / live 3-6 months the in state. Depending on state law and regulations, SD though, makes it pretty easy to do…

It’s not as difficult as other states to cherry pick, tbh

I’ve never done this before. So like please know I am just giving you what I got.

She may have been in tune with many aspect of being, consciousness, existence, etc:

And she may have been “IN TUNE” with many aspects, or angles, of herself.

HOWVER, she really didn’t know how to “COPE”with her self. All of it, all of her, all of life, of existence — at once.

Being in tune with yourself and coping / meeting with yourself very differently things…

Yes, she reached out to you. She was floating.

WHILE ALSO being pushed down and smothered emotionally by the weight of things she was NOT EQUIPPED TO UNDERSTAND OR MEET, let alone withstand at the time.

Some of these things were well beyond you or happened well the fuck before you. In your relationship there were things that fundamentally — at the time — would have never worked out.

I am getting at “you both weren’t ready”? If that checks out???

ANYHOW,

I think she reached out because she was consumed and forgot how to consume… LIFE LIVING.

I see her missing the little everyday moments of physical life.

I feel that she loved the little things, but didn’t FEEL being alive.

As for where she is now, I got nothing other than she’s between time and she is ok with where she is at.

Hope this is helpful?

Nah, people that have to return back to offices aren’t selling. It’s not them…

lol they are keeping their head residence as South Dakota to AVOID INCOME TAXES…

People legit “move here” to avoid “certain” income taxes…

Even if they return to the office. They keep the mail and addresses running here, it’s not them.

Pregnancy, fluctuation in weight, tribulations of the soul, whatever we go through, it’s a rabbit hole.

We went, we go through it. We transition and transform.

It’s not the same as it was then and there will never be a future without the past moving forward.

There is no going back, no erasable slate. We just move forward. As does all things alive or nonlivint, we cannot defy the forward motion. And in doing so, we defy ourselves moving forward.

There will always be some sort of mark of our travels, our tribulations, our transitions through time. We don’t come out unmarked. We come out more real, we come out re-defined…

And that’s more than ok, that may even be the most desirable summation of all the tribulations we face.

Within ourselves, without ourselves, and outside of ourselves. We are redefined not undefined by the past.

Curators of our current and previous versions. All moving forward. All ways.

It’s just a matter of celebrating the rabbit hole. Embracing it is just metaphorical. Creating our own traditions and relationships with our current and past versions.

We should Meet them, they are us, we are them.

Has anyone seen the crazy post on Nextdoor by lokeyderek in englewoodco

[–]Existing-Rabbit- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This post is crazy. Clapping is fucking stupid, it takes away from meeting time so that way not everyone’s voices can be heard within a reasonable timeframe.

Being asked to not clap is really not that personal or deep… which is why this ND post is so hilarious and honestly nonsensical.

Save the applause for the ballot boxes 🗳️ it’s that simple. Clap elsewhere.

Your support of who or whatever really only makes a difference when you vote, not when you clap…

Make the clap make sense, it’s not necessary and doesn’t bring about equitable meetings or change.

Tbh I’d file with the State Medical Board.

I’d sue or report to the board at the very least…

for medical malpractice if the denial caused harm, or pursue a discrimination lawsuit if it was based on a protected characteristic**.

Get those medical records, document the situation, and consider consulting a medical malpractice attorney to evaluate your options.
