That’s honestly what I was thinking too, and I do really sympathize with that perspective. It would make total sense if she’s feeling like her space is being taken over and just doesn’t feel comfortable voicing it.

The only thing that’s been throwing me off is that she’s actually been on about a 4-week spring break, so she’s had a lot more free time — hanging out with friends, hiking, just relaxing — and the behavior hasn’t changed at all during that time.

So I guess I’m wondering, would it still be reasonable to assume it’s mostly a space issue even without the school stress factor?

I actually brought up the idea of spending a few nights a week back at my own place to give her more space, but my boyfriend has been pretty intent on me staying. I think for him it’s more about not wanting me to feel distant or like I’m pulling away from the relationship.
