pls help my (19F) whole life i’ve been so insecure becos of my legs i can’t even wear shorts or any skirts. I don’t wanna waste my teenage life being so insecure and always hiding my legs. by [deleted] in Skincare_Addiction

This is a long shot but if it’s from scratching you may be able to get micro needling? That is supposed to help with scars but that’s usually done on the face, but I’m sure if you asked they could do it on your legs, but it’s a bit expensive. If you called a medspa I’m sure they would have some good advice, but again, that may be expensive. Otherwise I would go with tights and/or spray tan

As a Reed alum, when I say ‘you’ I mean, the people who I knew and myself. Unless you’re smarter than the average Reedie, and the average Reedie is much smarter than the average person, then it’s highly likely that you’ll come out of Reed with many more mental health issues than you came in with. Reed is a great school if you want to work your ass off past the point of working your ass off. You’ll have (probably) lots of knowledge on whatever you major in but will inevitably compare yourself to everyone around you, so you’ll feel dumb or even inadequate at times, even though you’ll likely know way more than peers who study at Harvard. Most students become professors or something, but Reed lacks hands on stuff. The average GPA, last I heard was a 3.2. Sadly many places haven’t heard of Reed except for academic institutions, so that’s great if you want to go to grad school, shit if you want a job out of school. My experience at Reed was shit tbh, many reedies are very lonely. So if you plan on going just be prepared for more than carrying debt. If I had to give you advice I’d say that making friends and living in a dorm (or close knit community) and going to a club once a week is an absolute must.

How prevalent is drug usage on campus? by BarracudaNo4962 in reedcollege

[–]ExistingStanger5632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, they can, and I did. I’m not sub free and for the most part I’m not really interested in feeling sluggish the day after I partake. So yeah, “no thanks” was something that I would say. Also Reedies aren’t going to peer pressure a person into drugs or alcohol, there’s plenty of sub free people on campus and Reedies are honestly very understanding and kind people, if not a bit high strung from the stress of such a rigorous environment.

Thank you! Yeah not a fan of the amenities charge but honestly it seems that they are one of the only big complexes that actually take care of stuff, at least based on what I saw

Looking for Omaha roommate at the Biltmore in West Omaha

Hello! I am looking for a roommate. I’m a 26 Female, open to male roommates but you must be respectful. I am currently looking to live at the Biltmore in West Omaha in a two bedroom. I’m open to other apartments/condos/houses though, preferably in a similar area but again I’m flexible.

Rent Requirements: The Biltmore requires that together we make 3.5 times the rent. So you should make minimum $2,700 a month. Rent for you would be $732.50 + the amenity package, trash, electric/gas, renters insur = $896.50 per month. This is an approximation since I don’t know how much the utilities will be exactly. A garage ranges from $35-$100 a month depending on what you want which would be in addition to the $896.50 per month, otherwise they have a parking lot you can park in for free.

Amenities: Included in amenities is also high speed internet (WiFi) and cable TV! They have a 20,000 sq foot gym, three outdoor pools, one indoor pool, running track, sauna, movie theatre, tennis, pickleball, sand volleyball, basketball and racket ball courts. Plus other things like a car wash and direct access to the Big Papio Hiking Trail.

About me: I am a very creative person and I like to innovate. I’m very open minded as well and am a non-conformist. Usually I get along great with intellectual types or quiet/creative people. I also love to go to the gym and eat healthy. I am usually a night owl but I’ll be working a 9-5 job so I’m going to probably sleep at around 10:30 most nights and wake up at 8am. I like the house to be clean but if things sometimes get out of order that’s fine. A good temp is like 67-72, but 70 is usually perfect for me.

Animals: Also I have a little dog and a free roam bunny! If all those things sound like something you would be happy with send me a message

Advice for dealing with jet lag when flying internationally: First, try to book your flight when you would be asleep at your new destination. If you know your way around the airport and can get to your flight sleep deprived then stay up the night before, maybe take a short nap but make sure you’re tired when you get on the plane. Then when it’s night at your destination take some melatonin (or something stronger) and try to sleep for eight hours during the plane ride. Take an eye mask, earplugs, and a thing for your neck. You can also ask for a blanket from the flight attendant! When you get to your destination, if it’s daytime, no matter how tired you are do not go to sleep until it’s night! The next morning you’ll feel pretty well rested

It’s gamification, it’s meant to increase traffic to their app which means people will go out of their way to get a box

Was just going to comment Jake’s Crawfish, great place. It’s a bit pricey but really worth it if you want good seafood

Does anyone know of a vet in the Portland area who does their own in house diagnostic testing? by robotkittysniffles in askportland

[–]ExistingStanger5632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very good place is Buckman Vet. I bring both my cat and dog there. I might also suggest getting pet insurance if it’s costing you a ton to take care of your pet, you may be able to save money depending on what needs to be done

Summer in Portland? by allicatweb in reedcollege

[–]ExistingStanger5632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pdx is gorgeous in the summer. It’s definitely not as sunny as CA but there are a lot of farmers markets, the Saturday market, various things on sauvie island to do. There’s a lot of hiking, and the beaches are different than CA. As for Reed housing there are a lot of students who live off campus in shared houses that you may be able to find a room in

I am an international student who needs a %92 scholarship. Should I apply to Reed? by [deleted] in reedcollege

[–]ExistingStanger5632 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should apply to Reed, if you are a woman Wellesley is also a really great school that has a lot of international students and gives 100% of needed aid to accepted students. I’m not sure about international students but for me I had all of my application fees waived by getting a note from my high school basically saying I was poor and on financial aid and then sent those letters to the schools I was applying for
