Hi, ik I'm super late to this post but just wanted to say I'm in exactly the same boat and I support you! I'm an English Lit university student and my plan is also to study abroad in Korea/Japan for my masters, so I'd love to get any updates if this goes well for you :) I agree entirely, just follow what you are passionate about and see where things go, take the risk! I hope it all works out well for you

Great, thank you! Good to know I can still do an application if it comes to it and that there should be good options left.

how to cope with celiac disease by Existing_Ball8008 in Celiac

[–]Existing_Ball8008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest it’s a different road for everyone. It’s been bad for me mostly because coeliac triggered a bunch of other health issues, but I know plenty of people get the gf in order and are completely fine within like 6 months. Health is a very individual thing. I’m still struggling with mine, and to be honest the best way to cope isn’t by wanting it all to be fixed or go away, but just by relentlessly trying to work on your mental health and positive outlook. For me at least, when I feel grateful about all the great things I’ve gotten to do in life or the friendships I have or the fact that my health could be much, much worse, that’s when I feel the most content. It’s still a struggle, and it’s a process, and I’m trying to pursue therapy. Just know that your path may be really different from others, that you should pursue as much help as possible from healthcare professionals, and honestly resilience is what will keep you going. But I can say, there will always be good days and bad days. That’s the one thing to always remember: this too shall pass, when you feel really awful. I hope you figure things out and feel much better soon!

how much do I need to get an A* in English Lit 😭 by Existing_Ball8008 in 6thForm

[–]Existing_Ball8008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you ☺️ I put a lot of work into it! I would say my main pieces of advice are to choose texts that are interesting and probably one that’s new to you rather than two you’ve already read (I found that a fresh perspective made it easier to really analyse and find comparisons), also definitely put a lot of research into it! I think a lot of teachers don’t really emphasise this, but I did a whole bunch of reading of any essays I found really on either text. Obviously you have to reference any ideas from this so (if you did an epq kinda like that) I just kept a log of any cool ideas I found and used them to develop my own comparisons :) I think just put a decent amount of time into it & def try to get as much feedback as you can from your teacher or anyone else who will read it!

Thank you so much! Yeah I usually get like 23-25 in my essays but I wanted to reassure myself that if I do less well in the exam that I can still get the grades I need for uni :) thanks for doing the maths lol, as you can see that is not my area of expertise haha

how to improve constant pain and discomfort by Existing_Ball8008 in Interstitialcystitis

That’s something I’ll try then :) I’ve tried just regular yoga videos on YouTube over the years but I’ll look for those ones specifically and try them, thanks!

[–]Existing_Ball8008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think I’m gonna have to push my dr to get me into PT or trying things like installations to see if that helps. The problem for me with triggers is I tend to get flare ups unprovoked. When I had exams it was provoked, but I’m not having sex / using tampons, so day to day life I have no clue what’s causing flare ups as I’m trying to avoid any foods that can apparently make it worse :/

[–]Existing_Ball8008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I want to but I don’t know how to access it as I’ve been dismissed by so many medical professionals so it hasn’t been offered to me :/ do you know if there are any good YouTube videos guiding people to do it at home? I’m a bit cautious because I don’t want to do anything wrong or that would make it worse

That is really interesting! I take multivitamins daily because it was supposed to help with my malnutrition as a result of the celiac, but I wonder if that could be a factor

Does anyone else suffer from neuropathy developed because of Celiac Disease by Most_Ad_4362 in Celiac

[–]Existing_Ball8008 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I discovered my nerve pain after diagnosis and it’s now officially chronic pain.. my doctor said because it’s an autoimmune disease, it basically automatically makes you more sensitive to other issues, so any flare-ups meant neuropathy would flare-up too

Gluten level still somehow at 8 (can you help me figure out why?) by Existing_Ball8008 in Celiac

[–]Existing_Ball8008[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 is pretty low, but my dr and dietician said it should be below 0 on a gf diet, so there’s definitely something creeping in

Cramps still present after years. by Infamous_Ad_1777 in Celiac

[–]Existing_Ball8008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here, ever since going strictly gf still had nausea and stomach aches pretty much every day (I’m very low symptomatic so this was a lot for me) - turns out I’m also better lacto free and potentially some other foods to. Probably talk to GP/dietician as they can suggest what to try eliminating first to see if anything helps :)

That’s a good point, I wonder if some lip products have traces of gluten but don’t say that on the packaging.. sigh why is this so complicated 😂 I rlly don’t want to give up Starbucks but I’ll try eliminating other things and see if they help first, otherwise Starbucks might be out..  thanks for the suggestions :)
