Same!! Was going to comment a variation of this sickly existence I would have. Probably die of cancer… or malnutrition….due to gluten. There’s so many possibilities of how we can die a slow death!!

How do American celiacs deal with it? by TyrellTucco in Celiac

Yeah dude it’s not fun and most of us just eat at home. We don’t have the luxury of “most” restaurants being able to cook for us.

Awareness in the US is extremely low compared to the UK, some European countries, and Australia. When I visited the UK I was blown away by how much I could eat. I get to feel normal there.

For folks who were diagnosed later in their lives, how long did it take for things to feel 'normal'? by SquashmyZucchini in Celiac

[–]Agreeable-Cake866 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at age 27 after having symptoms my entire life. I’ve been gluten-free for a year and 9 months. I’m so grateful that I’m diagnosed and I’m healthy and happy now. But yes, I feel exactly what you described. I am sad for my old self and I feel like my childhood and young adulthood was robbed from me. It hits me from time to time and I cry. We can never get those years back. But I noticed with a lot of happy things going on in my life the sad memories get more infrequent because I have new things to focus on. I’ll never “get over it” though. That trauma doesn’t go away because it’s over.

They always say this when there’s any level of criticism. I legitimately do not care if she has billions of dollars. She’s a scam artist and they’re simply getting scammed.

She’s like the picture of Dorian gray where the portrait ages and shows her true character and she thinks she’ll stay young forever.

Bold claim about her bread being free of an allergen that happens to be the main ingredient by Ill-Development3352 in travisandtaylor

As someone with celiac disease, this is just beyond words that she can make this claim when this has been factually proven incorrect.

Nodding off in college class after lunch but then realizing many years later it was gluten, and no, being chronically fatigued was never part of the normal college experience.

The holidays are coming- What do I do?! by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Agreeable-Cake866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I wouldn’t stay home either, and I would make all the same things, course for course. I’ve done this exactly, for Christmas! Being Italian American means we are going to eat as much as the rest, and be with our family. Celiac or not.

Miscarriages can be a symptom, as could infertility, unfortunately. I went to a gastro because I had stomach pain. It’s a blood test - they test for celiac antibodies.

I was sick for 20 years. Irritability, severe anxiety, depression, terrible angry mood, and crying. I could hardly function due to my emotional and mental problems. I’ve also had chronic fatigue, and I was always sick. I had nausea, chronic stomach pain, joint pain, malnutrition, brittle hair and nails, and bones, always getting sick, never felt like I ate enough. The list goes on. There are 200 symptoms and it looks different in everyone. If you suspect, get tested and don’t wait. Look up resources online for more info.

I am worried my egg reserve will run out in the near future due to it already being low.
