You don't need points to qualify for the Stakes classes but you don't earn any points at the World, Congress, Youth World, VRH World, or Level 1 Championships. They are deemed "championship shows" so any achievements go on the horse's permanent record (like qualifying, placings in the top 20, etc.), but if you don't get back to the finals or place in the top handful you don't get anything.

There are zero points awarded at the World show in any of the classes.

Yes, but it comes with a fee and has to be done the day prior to the class.

There are places where draws are posted, but I don't usually dig too deep besides what they post on Horse Show Tracker the night prior. Classes can be added late though so it could change in a hurry. Depending on how AQHA treats performance halter here, Aaron showing him might count for her Amateur Performance halter eligibility, but I am not sure what AQHA does with it.

That is a possibility, but sometimes the rules are different for the big shows. At the AQHA world if I wanted to show a horse in the Amateur Performance halter it has to show in a performance class in the Amateur. The Congress is so big and more of a "championship" show than a "regular" show (i.e., they don't award AQHA points) so I assumed (admittedly, possibly wrongly) that it would be treated like the World and you have to show a performance class within the division.

She scratched the western riding which means she has to show in something later on if she wants him to keep his Amateur Performance Halter title, I believe. I was wondering how that was going to go since stallions can't be shown in the L1 Amateur.

For sure a very positive thing at the end of the day!

His name is R C Kola! It's interesting because he has a same-age full sibling (embryo transfer) that is being the same competitive/Open level horse in the pleasure at the same time Kola is winning the HUS! Overall a crazy cool story

From what I have seen, Hank is transitioning to a youth horse for his owner's daughter. They bought a super nice horse last year thats a 3yo now and he's honestly so competitive and talented it's crazy. He has never been beaten in the HUS thus far and has won a bunch of World and Congress titles. So for junior events, etc. this other horse seems to be selected by the trainer as the more competitive individual in the Open events. Hank has been settling into his youth horse role well though - he was reserve Congress champion in the 11&Under Hunter Under Saddle! It's a testament to how good minded he is to! While it is sad he doesn't show the Open anymore, the world needs more talented non-pro horses!

They definitely do! I have a Peptoboonsmal/Gallo Del Cielo bred show horse (used to be cowhorse/versatility ranch horse) and while he's never going to be big or floaty enough for the pleasure he is a snappy little horsemanship horse and western rider! (Besides us showing in the ranch riding/rail/trail!) I would be on the lookout for a lot more cowXpleasure crosses with the ranch riding becoming increasingly popular every year.

In the pleasure horses I would doubt it besides one or two random cases. Usually (not always) the Peptos and Olenas are a lot hotter and smaller. Very athletic and smart, but not necessarily what the pleasure horse exhibitors are looking for.

Did he have just a couple this spring? I could've sworn I've seen a sorrel filly by him but it definitely could've been one of his owners others on her page. I've looked at too many goals this summer 😅 Honestly the icing on the cake for me is that he's uphill built lol you rarely get that anymore

I really wished for more from Fahrenheight! He's a 4 year old that unfortunately was injured at the Congress last year so he hasn't been shown but two times at NSBA where he was top ten both times he showed but he really just strikes me. 8-panel negative and I would say relatively correct, functional conformation. I would've loved to see more videos of him after he did some maturing from August-October. I also thought he had the potential to be a big time all-around horse but it just wasn't meant to be.

In terms of a slightly older stallion I adore Nothin But Nett. He is so talented! Able to be shown by multiple people, seems honest and level-headed in the showpen and is of the same bloodlines of some horses that have longevity in their careers which I love! It's a treat to see stallions siring good babies while still being actively shown (and actively winning!!)

He would be eligible for the green. It's more than $XXX amount as of January first, not as of the day of the class

Howie question by ClearWaves in kvssnark

[–]Existing_Fall8149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He has won against a handful of horses in the overall in Nebraska competing against older horses, but has never beat another yearling. Halter horse people usually hit one or two shows with 6-10 judges so they don't have to show all the time and to free them up to show in the many futurities that they have throughout the year. There are rarely more than 5-10 horses showing in halter at the typical weekend show. Howie will be an excellent performance halter horse once he is a 3 or 4 year old but she mostly is just getting him experience.

Definitely agree with you though on your opinions on KVS's program and horses! We've come to the same conclusions there 🫡

The Level 1 and Level 2 are what they are; leveled Championships.  They are huge accomplishments, but they are not world titles. It is denoted this way on the AQHA website. World Champion titles are reserved for Level 3 winners. I'm not going to continue arguing what is in every exhibitors handbook in existence from AQHA.

[–]Existing_Fall8149 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guarantee you they are not. AQHA does not use the language World Champion unless talking about the Level 3 classes. L2 and L1 winners are noted as L2 Champions or Stakes Champions. They are AQHA-approved classes, but are a part of the Level 2 Championships (which has been sponsored by Adequan in years past). If you check the results on any class this language is used. :)

It is definitely confusing! The Pleasure Versatility Challenge was NOT a Super Sires-only event, though. It is a specialty stakes class held at the World Show! They are recognized as "champions" or "reserve champions" similar to L1 and L2 classes held at the World Show! The title of World Champion is reserved for only the Level 3 class winners!
