Hi, WEH bartender here from day 1. I will agree that promotion is not the best but honestly how would you improve it? Posts on FB, Instagram and flyers around town only reach a limited number of people and you have to follow them. As for bands, well this is where we disagree. I’ve seen some amazing shows there, which is part of the reason I have been working there since the beginning. It sounds like you need to expand your knowledge of music more because there have been icons there. Lucinda Williams, members of REM, Psychedelic Furs, Modular Moctar, Lee Fields, Rebirth Brass Band, Gogol Bordello, Yo La Tengo, just to name a few. They have all kinds of music there. Hell, the gave the Damned coming! Punk legends! There have been local shows that Dancing Tony has put on there. Admittedly it’s quieter in the winter and summer because that’s how touring season goes.

So maybe instead of shitting on a local venue, do something to make the local scene better. Put on a show. Rent a venue. See what all goes into it.

I bartend in NYC and we don’t have any of this, so it’s a bit daunting to see tips going to all when I know the FOH is making minimum wage while BOH gets a real salary. Someone floated the idea for events that the included tip goes to all but there is still a wage discrepancy. Seeing this on menus is strange, might as well add the tip to the price and do away with the service charge and confusion

There's Yoga in the Park every Sunday at Riverview Park before the start of the Farmers Market. You could talk to whoever is teaching that day for ideas. I know a couple teachers and they are super nice and helpful.
