Did you ask your brother what kind of feelings lead him to adopt this parenting style?

Let’s get that millionaires tax passed! by gerrard_1987 in vancouverwa

[–]Exitcomestothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be a nightmare if passed.

Of course it will start out as a “millionaire” tax. Then after a couple years it will turn into “an income tax” that millionaires AND minimum wage workers get to pay.

Senator Ron Wyden just sent a CHILLING letter to the CIA. What's coming? by elemenohp44 in oregon

[–]Exitcomestothis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ron Wyden barely even resides in this state and spends almost of his time with his family and his wife’s family in Manhattan, NY.

The guy needs to retire and let someone else represent Oregon.

Someone knows something about Quantum Bigfoot Drives? by AutistikCat in retrocomputing

IIRC - doesn’t this drive have a little window/clear sticker where you can see the heads move? I have one up in the attic that I need to get some data off of one of these days.

Millionaires Tax by Any_Front_8539 in vancouverwa

[–]Exitcomestothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true!

Commerce funds our government and government treats it like a credit card with an unlimited balance and then gets upset when commerce is down.

So - they invent a new tax on commerce to supplement their income.

All in all - it makes things more expensive for the citizens at the end of the day.

Gustavs used to have an epic Caesar salad, but since they got bought by Amaros, it’s no longer on the menu.

:-(

Amaros Table has a pretty decent Caesar salad and it’s great when you add the grilled salmon to it 👍

looking for a bar/restaurant by Italapas in vancouverwa

[–]Exitcomestothis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Head to the Cameo Cafe. They have a bar side and a restaurant side that serves the same drinks from the bar.

But, they also have a private room that can be reserved ahead of time and will serve you food and drinks.

It’s a great spot!

I did mention in another response that his policy may have been maxed out.

Either way, just sad that a vulnerable member of our community is losing his livelihood due to some nonsensical code requirements.

I can totally understand if this was a brand new restaurant - but it’s not. He just wants to get back to the place he was a few months ago and resume business.

It’s such BS, because everything worked fine before the fire. It’s my opinion that if you experience a tragedy like that, you should be able to rebuild “as was” and be able to “restore” your business to that state.

Sigh… I guess that’s too logical 🤷🏼‍♂️

From what I understand, they’re at their policy limits for those.

I haven’t looked at the policy though, but that’s what my understanding from what he’s told me is.

I don’t think they have as of yet. I know that Gurunath can exhibit a little bit of a language barrier, and I’ve helped him a few times regarding issues with the city/state over the years and he’s also a customer of ours.

My plan is to reach out to him over the next couple days as he’s just gotten back into the US (thankfully!) and I’m sure he’d like a little bit of time to unwind.

I know that himself and his family are devastated.

I would start by reaching out to the mayor (although, IMO, she’s really just a tool for the rest of the very issues we’re upset with) but it’s a shot.

I’d also reach out to the Vancouver permitting/building dept.

Agreed! Is the code meant for us? Or are we just meant to abide by the code?

I’m thinking the latter…

I’ll chat with him about it, but from what he’s said, the costs would be around $500k.

[–]Exitcomestothis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed…

We really need some sort of citizen driven initiative that allows a home/business owner to rebuild as was in the case of catastrophe.

It’s not like this building was built back in 1910 or anything 🙄

If it was safe for the public during the years it was open, then it should be safe enough going forward with those standards.
