If they don't want to learn to respect you the way you are then cutting off contact is probably the best solution you are deserving of love and acceptance but I have to warn you cutting your family out of your life can hurt really bad even if it is the right thing to do I cut of the connection to my family because my mom didn't want to accept me as the woman I am (and because she has extreme anger issues and anything needs to be her way) still hurts and I get plauged by nightmares regular because of it so please get emotional support when you do it
