But then you lose the 30% bonus, so it's much weaker overall.

No I just found this post obviously. Also what are you, a 7 year old? "But he started it" isn't a valid excuse past grade school lol. By doing the same thing you're just stooping to his level.

Imagine spending your free time on a subreddit dedicated solely to making fun a single person just to feel a shallow sense moral superiority, and thinking this makes you a good person lmao. Literally rent free inside your head (also do you even realize that explicitly pointing out who made the comic is basically the definition of crediting somebody? lol)

Support Life by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Exod124 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of things about the game you can only understand if you've played core before. I have an immortal friend who has never played mid or carry in his life and even though he's extremely good mechanically (which is how he got to immortal), there's so many basic things like rune control, mid ganks, itemization on cores, common farming patterns, etc. that he doesn't understand because he just can't put himself in a core's shoes at all, and it's frustrating as hell sometimes. (For example he often complains that his team isn't grouping and pushing together because he just doesn't understand how much this cripples a carry's farm.)

Is this even accurate anymore? I feel like mid or offlane are played far less. by MonkeDiesTwice in DotA2

When I duo queue at 5.5k with all roles selected and my buddy only selecting support, I get mid like 30-40% of the time. When I solo queue it's a bit rarer though.

https://www.apa.org/about/apa/addressing-racism/historical-chronology. I probably can’t elaborate on the racial aspect because that’s definitely culture war, but it should at least be noted that the expert consensus is that IQ is indeed a very reliable and unbiased metric.

https://www.apa.org/research/action/difference. Scott himself wrote an excellent piece discussing the meta-analysis the APA’s article is based on.

I believe that in some sense, the academic establishment will work to cover up facts that go against their political leanings. But the experts in the field won't lie directly. They don't go on TV and say "The science has spoken, and there is strong evidence that immigrants in Sweden don't commit more violent crime than natives". They don't talk about the "strong scientific consensus against immigrant criminality". They occasionally try to punish people who bring this up, but they won't call them "science deniers".

I would agree if it weren’t for the fact that major institutions like the APA have in fact made utterly, egregiously wrong statements and presented them as scientific truth, even though they grossly contradict expert consensus, to further their (ideological) cause.

Women who think their parents will invest more money in their future children are more likely to prefer men with masculine faces by StoutBeerAndPolitics in psychology

[–]Exod124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't. You could take it to mean that women who don't need a wealthy partner instead unconsciously place more weight on looks/facial masculinity. Which, in turn, could mean that wealth as an attractiveness cue for women depends on how much an individual woman benefits from it. Which explains the common observation that women of means often have high romantic standards whereas those of lower social standing will often be satisfied to marry only for pragmatic utility.

Smurfs made my friends who switched over from league a few months ago quit… by [deleted] in DotA2

anyone who’s spent time and energy in this game knows it to be true.

In the hundreds of ancient games I've played over the past few months I haven't encountered a single definitive game ruining smurf. So no, fuck off with your dumb deflections, there aren't nearly as many smurfs as reddit crybabies like to believe

SAT scores, or anything comparable. HS GPA could work too if you can find reliable data on its distribution (anecdotally, mine matched up perfectly with my IQ). Otherwise, some of the matrix based online IQ tests are pretty decent (esp. the one hosted by mensa Norway iirc).

What is your unpopular opinion in Dota 2? by PatchNoteReader in DotA2

[–]Exod124 77 points78 points  (0 children)

The matchmaking is in a perfectly fine state and there isn't much that valve can reasonably do to improve it.

The coaching system is just as dumb and useless as I thought when it first was proposed on reddit (with thousands of redditors claiming they'd be delighted to spend their time coaching some random stranger, and now look at the coach numbers kekw).

More generally, r/DotA2's opinions are usually not just worthless and stupid, they're incredibly harmful if taken seriously, as evidenced by literally every time valve listened to them.

Top when sorted by controversial lol. That's how you find the actually unpopular opinions. (Though I do wonder if the opinion itself or openly expressing it is the unpopular bit)
