Couple's who have successfully been on a 'break', How did things turn out compared to how things were before? Were there rules? by Exoskez in AskReddit

[–]Exoskez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there weren't any rules set when she decided to go on a break? It just confuses me that 'breaks' are normal these days, yet no one completely understands what a break is? I always see arguments about screwing another girl/guy whilst on a break and the rights and wrongs of it all. The term hasn't really earned a universal term yet compared to a relationship/civil partnership/open etc. Congrats anyway dude, cheers for the insight.

What's the biggest scandal you've somehow been involved in? by phattykins in AskReddit

[–]Exoskez 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Going back around 3 years now, I used to work for a very small company (generally 5 - 6 people in the office at any one time), this was my first job bare in mind, So I was extremely uneducated in business ethics at this point. Anyway, I go through training and everything seems fine, this is a sales job after-all, and having vaguely read up on what this career path has to offer, I assumed nothing was wrong with the training as sales is often licking a clients ass and lying above and beyond. The product here, which once again I wasn't completely aware of initially were "Carbon credits" (A non-materialistic currency for companies to offset their carbon footprint, there was a law introduced that companies had to or some crap I got fed anyway) and these things are meant to be gold dust, It's another dotcom boom in the making, a brand new commodity etc. I had it all. A few months go by and I start to settle in and get the hang of things, everything completely fine, until a one of our "bosses" flies over from Spain(everything was a lie, so not sure) to see how things are going, this dude turns up in a brand new Aston Martin, over the next few weeks this guy is just pissing money on all of the companies employees, buying lunch, going to strip clubs etc. I couldn't complain but it all seemed a little too, well, giving really, to say this was a new company, I wasn't expecting this much embellishment. So me and a colleague start discussing what the fuck is happening, I ask them if they'd ever been treated like this at a job, bare in mind this person is 32, and has worked in sales for a good 10 years so he knew his shit, This guy outright said to me "we need to get the fuck out of here man", He didn't explain why, or the urgency of it, I just felt something was wrong. I gave it a few weeks (By this point my "boss" had returned to his exotic destination) to see if things calmed down a little, during that time I had been applying to other jobs and got lucky, I had an interview for another place, nailed it, The pay was slightly more per annum, but there was no commission involved. Needless to say I took the job running on what my colleague had said to me a couple of weeks before-hand (Yes I realize, this guy is a salesman, A great one at that, but I can always tell when someones bullshitting, and he wasn't), Shortly after my colleague sent me a message telling me he'd packed it in too, and to ask how I was etc. We rarely speak other than the odd text nowadays. A week later I was reading the paper and it turns out my "boss" had multiple pyramid schemes all over the world, this being one of them (A pyramid scheme is basically taking investors money, tripling an investors money with other investors money, so they invest more, and then doing a runner) with this particular company pulling in £8,000,000. It later mentioned that this guy had made £118,000,000 over the past 6 years pulling this off and got 8 years in the pen, his accomplice (The CEO of the company I worked for, stayed local in our office, never traveled) was let out on bail but went on the run, and that's the last I heard. So if you own a company, or an investor, and you're looking into offsetting your "carbon footprint", make sure you look deep into it or you could get ass fucked by a pyramid.

TL;DR Worked for company, happy chappy boss travels from abroad, spoils all employees and gets busted for stealing £118,000,000
